The representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, who was recently reappointed as the Chairman, House Committee on Defense, Rep. Babajimi Benson, has said that his reappointment presented him the opportunity to serve the country further, especially in the area of providing the necessary legislative support towards finding solutions to insecurity.
Benson, who is representing Ikorodu for the third term, also said that the new appointment will also aid his representation to his constituency.
He reacted to his reappointment by the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass, on Friday.
The ranking lawmaker thanked the Speaker and the Chief of Staff to the President Tinubu, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, for the trust they reposed in him.
“Yesterday (Thursday), the leadership of the 10th House of Representatives, led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass, reappointed me to serve as the Chairman, House Committee on Defence”, he said.
“I am deeply honored, and express my heartfelt appreciation to the Speaker, and to the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and other leadership of the National Assembly, for the incredible support and unparalleled confidence reposed in me to lead again, in the provision of necessary legislative support on Nigeria’s security architecture.
“This appointment will not only serve as an impetus to provide the needed legislative support in order to efficiently and collaboratively tackle the myriads of insecurity challenges bedeviling Nigeria, but also reenergize me to serve Ikorodu Federal Constituency better”, he assured.
“My profound appreciation also to my wife, Jumoke Benson, monarchs in Ikorodu, led by Oba Kabir Shotobi, GAC members, beloved constituents, political leaders, iCare Foundation and other stakeholders, for their unwavering support.
“Together, we shall collectively move Ikorodu Federal Constituency to a more enviable height”, he said.
