-Council boss Condoles bereaved family, calls for strict adherence to building regulations
Two young siblings were lost to a building collapsed on Sunday, during the heavy downpour that residents experienced at the weekend.
The two young lads, aged 7 and 9, THE IMPACT gathered, were trapped when the fence of the neighbouring house fell on their building at 25, Alao Street,by Olainukan Bus Stop, Isawo in Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria.
The unfortunate occurrence,we gathered, threw the entire community into a mourning mood.
The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), has, however, sealed off the affected buildings for more assessment.
The Council Chairman, Hon. (Otunba) Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, has visited the scene to commiserate with the affected family and assess the situation.
The chairman, who was accompanied by Hon. Abimbola Owomilowomi, Majority Leader, Ikorodu West Legislative arm and the Councillor representing Ward E, and Mr Sunday, General Secretary of Ikorodu West Community Development Committee (CDC), warned residents against contravening the state’s building guidelines, to ensure that houses built are good for habitation.
He charged the Council’s Department of Works and Housing and the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) to ensure that government’s guidelines are strictly adhered to in building of houses.
While sympathizing with the bereaved family, Hon. Kazeem prayed that God will give them succor, and the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
