The Ayangbure palace has expressed shock and disbelief at the death of the Iya – Oloja General of Ikorodu Division, Alhaja (Chief) Mrs Taofeekat Abiodun Allison, over her death in the early hours of Sunday morning.
She has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites, in her house.
Many people have also expressed shock at the unexpected development, stating that she was still hale and healthy a few days to her death.
In a statement signed today by Otunba Ayodele Elesho, KJW., for and on behalf of HRM Alaiyeluwa, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, the royal Majesty said that he received the news with “big shock and utter dismay’’.
“The news of the sudden demise of Alhaja (Chief) Taofeekat Abiodun Allison, the Iyaloja General of lkorodu Division, came to me as a big shock and was received with utter dismay”, the statement said.
“Alhaja Allison was a very energetic, honest and selfless market leader who played her role meritoriously over the decades without any blemish or dent on her long standing leadership role.
“Iyaloja was a great mother to all the market men & women throughout Ikorodu Division”, the statement added.
The highly revered Ayangbure of Ikorodu, described the late market leader as his adviser on market and community affairs, adding that her guidance, counselling and prayers are of immense assistance which he is going to miss.
“As a result of her open transparency in dealing with market matters, she became a strong and eminent member of the Advisory Team to Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Chief (Mrs) Folasade Tinubu-Ojo”, Ayangbure stated.
“On a personal note, she was a mother figure to me, and also was my unannounced Special Adviser on Market and Community Affairs.
“I will miss her guidance, counselling and fervent prayers at all times.
“Alhaja Allison, the Yeye Oba of lbesheland, had effectively played her own role and left her marks of achievements on the Ikorodu Guinness Book of Records.
“On behalf of myself, the Royal Families and the Ayangbure in Council, l commiserate with my brother-Oba, His Royal Majesty, Oba Richard Abayomi Ogunsanya, Olubeshe of Ibesheland, the entire Allison family of lkorodu, the Market Men and Women throughout Ikorodu Division, as well as the good of Ikorodu people Kingdom, on the irreparable loss of our departed amiable Iyaloja Allison.
“I pray that Almighty Allah grants her soul a place of rest in Aljanah Firdaos, and fortitude to all of us that she left behind. Adieu, Iyaloja General”.
