The former Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and human rights crusader, Comrade Omoyele Sowore, visited lkorodu, on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, to observe the Ileya celebration with friends and comrades.
Ikorodu is one of the strongholds of Sowore who has a wide network of friends and comrades across the country, and it was an engaging moment during his visit.
The Publisher of the Sahara Reporters, who arrived Igbogbo in Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Area of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest of Nigeria, met with old friends and comrades – in – arm of many years, and had interesting marathon discussions on issues relating to the last general elections.
It was an avenue to share views on the present government and the future of his political engagement and liberalization of the masses.
After visitations to old friends and ally in different locations in Ikorodu Division, Sowore later hung out with his comrades in the AAC and ‘Take it Back Movement’, at E Bar at Imoshe Close off Laketu Street/Market, Ikorodu garage, Ikorodu.
At the gathering, the former AAC Presidential candidate gave messages of hope to all comrades and charged them not to be tired of fighting and advocating for better Nigeria and good governance.
He appreciated their efforts and sacrifices before, during and after the last general elections.
Sowore also acknowledged their doggedness and contributions towards both his political party, AAC, and the human rights movement.
The memorable visit also afforded the ‘Peoples General’ the rare opportunity to wine, dine and dance with his Comrades in Ikorodu. He also took to the dance floor to enjoy good music with his folks.
The Chairman, AAC in Ikorodu and Chief Host of the ‘Ileya Hangout’, Comrade Michael Olasoji, speaking with THE IMPACT, said:
“Our able leader, Omoyele Sowore, found it necessary to come and have ‘Ileya’ (Eid-el-Kabir) festive hangout with Ikorodu AAC and ‘Take It Back Movement’ comrades. We really appreciate our able revolutionary leader, Omoyele Sowore, for finding it worthy to celebrate with Ikorodu comrades”, he said.
“He has remained an excellent role model, mentor and leader to us as youths and Nigerians.
“We would continue to give him every support needed in rescuing this country from those destroying it”, he assured Sowore.
While stating his commitment and that of his members to the party, Michael also added that the AAC is preparing towards the local government election in Ikorodu.
“AAC, as a party, would continue to wax stronger in Ikorodu, being a major revolutionary opposition party and people’s party”, he said.
“We are planning towards the coming Local government election, we are sure, by God’s grace, that we would win some councils in Ikorodu.
“Once again, we appreciate everyone’s presence and contribution towards today’s get together.May God continue to strengthen us and bless us”.
