The 40 members of the 9th Lagos State House of Assembly, will, today, sit for the last time as the House concluded its work to pave the way for the 10th Assembly which some of the outgoing members will be part of, while others will not.
One of those that will not be returning is the outgoing Majority Leader, Hon. Sanai Oyeniran Bolanle Agunbiade, popularly called (SOB).
The experienced fourth-term lawmaker has been representing the Ikorodu Constituency I since 2007, and many have attested that he was at his imperial best all through his representation period.
Agunbiade is also the Chairman, Southwest Legislative Assembly and Chairman, Nigerian Majority Leaders Forum, an initiative he spearheaded its formation.
In commemoration of his exit, constituents of Ikorodu on THE IMPACT platform, have been pouring commendations and praises on him, for his representation in the last 16 years and also wished him well in his future endeavours.
Ms. Arinola Okeowo, a Communicator and Agroentreprenuer, described Agunbiade’s representation as historic and rare.
“Your name will forever be written in history as one who served his people with all his heart and might”, she said.
“You will always be found in places where the growth of Ikorodu and her people are discussed and in most cases, leading that conversation.
“I’m not sure Ikorodu will ever have it like you again, people like you don’t come twice”, she said.
She also acknowledged her tutelage under the ranking lawmaker and wished him well.
“Super happy and thankful to have spent quality time under your tutelage and learnt some leadership and political lessons while at it”, she said.
“I know it’s greatness henceforth, super excited to see what the Lord whom you serve in all sincerity, has in stock for you. Congratulations as you take a bow as the highest serving elected representative in Ikorodu.
“Opomulero ti o le wo laiye”.
An Economist and Secretary, Ikorodu Economic Forum, Mr Oke Godwin OlaOluwa (OGO), also commended the lawmaker and charged him to make himself available for further service and mentoring.
“Congratulations, Hon SOB, as you take a bow from the stage. More power to your elbow sir”, he said.
“I hope you will be available for further service to the community. Some of us would not mind tapping from your wealth of knowledge and experience.
“We love you”, he added.
While also congratulating the former lawmaker, Soyiga…, former President, National Association of Ikorodu Division Students (NAIDS), said:
“Congratulations sir, Hon SOB. Thank you for all the good times, the support, the messages, the calls, the advice and the offers”, he said.
“God bless you and will continue to direct your steps. Thank you for all you do for Ikorodu”.
The Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Ikorodu West LGA, Otunba Bayo Lawson, also said:
“A call to service is not a permanent call…… There comes a time when you will have to take a bow……”, he said.
“You fought a good fight for Ikorodu Division, You served Ikorodu Division and you served Lagos State. Your service to Ikorodu and Lagos State will never be forgotten. You’ve done your best for Humanity and Community. There is no doubt that you will be missed @ LAHA”, the APC Chairman said.
“Ka bo, omodo re re!!! The Opomolero of Ikorodu Kingdom!!”.
Lekan Durojaiye, a public commentator and political operative, also contributing, said that Hon. Agunbiade has laid a firm foundation that those that will be succeeding him will build upon.
He also charged the outgone Majority Leader to continue to use his experience in serving the society.
“#SOB, you have done your bit and l wish you all the best always as you bow out today. I pray and hope the levels and foundations laid by you and all others before you will be raised by the incoming Honourable”, he said.
“For all your years in power, we never met physically, but your giant strides made the Ayangbure of Ikorodu to give you the title of OPOMULERO of IKORODU. It is a BIG title for a committed community and grassroots politician like yourself.
“Don’t relent, please, as you continue to play your role as a worthy leader and community builder. You are always highly appreciated. All the best, our OPOMULERO ! Ciao…”.
A community leader and public commentator, Deacon Monday Ohi Obadan, also commending SOB, said:
“Bravo! Thanking God for sparing your life… .
“Your courage and resilience in the midst of turbulence and stormy weather are not only exemplary but worthy of emulation.
“You are leaving an indelible mark in the socio-political landscape of Ikorodu. Stay Galliantly healthy.
“More wins sir!! Best wishes aways sir!!!”.
