Senator Mikhail Adetokunbo Abiru, the Senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District and Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, have lauded the publisher of the Oriwu sun newspaper, Alhaji Monzor Kolawole Olowosago, for his contribution to the field of journalism, especially the community journalism sector.
The two federal lawmakers lauded the publisher while felicitating him on his birthday, today.
In their separate statements, Abiru and Benson congratulated Alhaji Olowosago, who holds the title of ‘Baroyin of Ikorodu Kingdom’, on his birthday.
“On behalf of my family and the good people of Lagos East Senatorial District, I celebrate the doyen of community newspapers in Nigeria, Chief (Dr) Monzor Olowosago (The Baaroyin of Ikorodu) and Publisher of Oriwu Sun Newspaper, on his birthday”, Sen. Abiru said in a statement signed by his media aide.
“I celebrate your contributions to journalism in Nigeria, particularly community news reporting and publishing , where you have excelled nationally.
” Through sheer dint of hard work, vision, courage and perseverance, you nurtured the Oriwu Sun brand from inception in 1985 to a behemoth. We are proud of your accomplishments.
‘’Your immense contributions to the development of the Ikorodu division are also well recognized.
“On this auspicious occasion, I join your family, friends, colleagues, and numerous well-wishers in wishing you a happy birthday. I pray that Almighty Allah grants you all your heart’s desires as you age gracefully”, he said.
In his own statement signed personally by him, Rep. Benson commended the celebrant for his commitment towards the development of community journalism.
‘’I heartily felicitate with the Publisher of the first Community Newspaper in Nigeria, Chief Monzor Olowosago on the occasion of his birthday’’, Rep. Benson said.
