Politicians have started sending signals to the six occupants of the Chairmanship positions in the Ikorodu Local Government and five Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Ikorodu Division, to start preparing their exit.
While many are still consulting and testing the ground, Mr Shakiru Seidu, a blogger and the Publisher of the MegaXpression, seems to have concluded necessary background work. He made known his intention to succeed Builder Sesan Daini, as the Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, in a statement on Easter Monday, a very significant day to make such declaration.
The elected council Chairmen still have about two years in office to conclude their 4 – year term and Daini is one of the four Council bosses that will not be returning to office since he will be concluding the statutory terms of 4 years each in 2025. Others are Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, Chairman, Ikorodu LG, Hon. Adeola Banjo, Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, and Hon. Wasiu Agoro, Chairman, Imota LCDA.
In what he tagged, ‘Igbogbo/Bayeku 2025 Chairmanship Position: Notice Of Intent To Contest”, Shakiru, who said that he has been very active in the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA politics, said that he has over the years devoted himself to the advancement of humanity and his community.
Declaring his intention, the aspirant, who has recorded the feat as the first person to publicly declared intention for the Chairmanship seat in Ikorodu Division, said:
“Distinguished members, it is on this noble background that I am convinced that I possess the required experience and exposure to give Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA its deserved stewardship”.
“I certainly cannot do this alone, I count on your support and hopefully believe you will give it willingly. Kindly accept the assurances of my highest regards”.
His public declaration is reproduced below:

Easter greetings.
I respectfully write to inform you all formally of my intention to contest for the exalted office of Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, and to seek your support in emerging as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
I am Shakiru Seidu by name, an alumnus of Lagos State Polytechnic, now LASUSTECH, where I obtained my Higher National Diploma in Banking and Finance, a trained Banker, Journalist, Societal Change Advocate and a Social mobiliser.
Born in January 20, 1974, to the families of Chief Lamidi Omokunle Seidu and Elder (Mrs) Sarah Shefinat Seidu, both renowned, seasoned, disciplined and astute community leaders with remarkable records.
I am from Ogunbiyi family of Oke-Ira Community in Bayeku and Saogun family of Lantan Onanusi family of Igbogbo, where I had my early childhood education at AUD Primary School, while l attended Oriwu College, Ikorodu for my secondary education.
I have been very active in the politics of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, since 1998 as a grassroots foot-soldier, strategist and social mobiliser. My involvement in politics stemmed from my deep rooted belief in the continuous improvement of mankind.
In the course of time and with the experiences garnered, I have come to the conclusion that welfare advancement of people, society and humanity remains the major purpose of government and Hallmark of a public servant.
I have at all times devoted myself to the positive advancement of humanity at every inch of opportunities that cross my way as my modest contributions to societal change.
For me, no other place I call home other than Igbogbo/Bayeku as I have lived a better part of my life, especially with my unique background as an indigene of Ward C3, raised in Igbogbo Ward C2, with a maternal root from Igbogbo/Bayeku (Adeyoruwa Descendant family of Idi-Orogbo), combined with my working experiences as Legislative Aide at the Lagos State House of Assembly (2011-2015), former Special Adviser to the Council Chairman in the LCDA and as a well known Community Journalist.
As a party faithful, my loyalty to our common cause and respect for my party leaders is sacrosanct. I have strived at all times to show consideration for the feelings of others.
Distinguished members, it is on this noble background that I am convinced that I possess the required experience and exposure to give Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA its deserved stewardship.
I certainly cannot do this alone, I count on your support and hopefully believe you will give it willingly. Kindly accept the assurances of my highest regards.
