The former Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Barr. Saheed O. Kolawole Shillings (SOK Shillings), has charged members of the Christian faith and the entire Nigerians not to despair and hope for a better country.
The senior lawyer, while stating that Messenger that usually turnaround the society are not always among those accepted by the general society, added that the President – elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, may not be the one that would completely change the fortune of the country, but will definitely lead the country on the path to its greatness.
Shillings, who quoted copiously from the Holy Bible in his Easter message to Christians, today, also said that, “there is a message of hope, liberation and abundance which must be delivered if we do not despair”.
The former General Secretary of Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS), also urged those propagating religious war to retrace their steps and emulate Jesus Christ whose resurrection is being celebrated many centuries after his time.
The statement, titled, ‘As We Celebrate Easter!’, is reproduced below:
“Easter is the commemoration of the symbolic transition and rise of Jesus the Christ. It is a direct persecution of christianity by the State”.
“This period is important in our present milieu. We just had an election in which religion was a major element of the contest. The eventual winner came on the back of a muslim-muslim ticket in which the muslim votes of the north took precedence of expediency over balancing. Coming on the heels of a Boko-Baram scourge that devastated the christian faithful more, it is, without equivocation, a moment of definition of the fate of the faith”.
“However, the faithful must reflect on the events of Easter. The Christ transitioned and rose! Can the House of the Lord be defeated?! The Lord God, the Omnipresent, the Omnipotent does His things in His ways. We cannot see better than the creator of the eyes; hear better than the One who thought and made the ears; or, reason better than the Omnipotent. It is time to exhibit faith, keep the peace and wait on the Lord”.
“Religion is but a conduit through which faith is propagated. Religion must not override Godliness. There are those stoking the embers of religious war. Our problems are bigger than religion. Tell them to pray the right prayers of peace and abundance. Tell them to preach Godliness and guide the flock towards liberation. Ask them to show you where Jesus raised a sword. Tell them to openly tear their passport to show that we are in it together. Ask them when they knew there would be an election and whether they prayed and whether they are wiser than God. In fact, shun them before they turn you into disbelief”.
“If it seems wrong, the believer knows it will be righted. The messenger is not usually among those accepted by society. If Tinubu is not a messenger, he sure will be the harbinger of the messenger. But there is a message of hope, liberation and abundance which must be delivered if we do not despair”.
“The Israelites wandered for so long because they wanted to do it in their own wisdom. Let us act our own part alone and leave the rest to the Almighty”.
“And he quipped: will anything good come out of Nazareth? But the greatest THING thus came out of Nazareth”.
“’He said: I am but an envoy of your Lord, and have come to bestow on you a boy, faultless’! – Quran 19:19. Happy Easter!”
