After a successful two – year tenure as Chairman, Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS), which earned him re – election unopposed on last Sunday, Mr Rotimi Akeem Erogbogbo has unveiled parts of his agenda for his renewed mandate.
Erogbogbo and other newly elected executive members of the socio – cultural and developmental body, would administer the body for the next two years..
Erogbogbo administration’s achievements in the last two years in the area of tourism and cultural developments, sports, education, economic, literary initiative, empowerment, humanitarian, increased membership of IKODASS/carrying along existing ones and annual Oga Day Celebrations among others, are well documented.
A day to his re – election, IKODASS achieved another feat by presenting scholarship to 14 students in Ikorodu. The beneficiaries of the scheme sponsored by Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, will benefit from the gesture that was initiated by the IKODASS under Erogbogbo, for the next three years.
So far, 45 students have been given scholarships by the IKODASS, under his leadership in the last two years.
“Just yesterday (Saturday), we presented scholarships sponsored by Sen Tokunbo Abiru to another set of students that will benefit from the gesture for the next three years. In the last two years, we have been able to give 45 students in higher institutions scholarships. That is what we want to improve upon. We want to give our young ones and lkorodu, a good future”, he said.
Telling stakeholders of his administration’s plans for the next two years, Erogbogbo said:
“We are going to build a hostel on one of our lands at Kasoleri close to the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) to generate income for IKODASS”, Erogbogbo revealed.
“We are also talking with someone to give IKODASS a bus on a higher purchase”, he said.
Erogbgogbo, who said that the government did not give the association any grant in the last two years, added that the association has executed its programmes successfully. He, however, appealed to the Lagos State Government to support IKODASS.
He also revealed that the association has concluded plans with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, on establishing a Macro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) centre.
“We have also concluded plans with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to have a training centre at our property at Kasoleri”.
Speaking with THE IMPACT, Erogbogbo also assured that the association will also continue with sporting development, literary initiatives, educational and economic activities among others, while also adding that this year’s annual Ikorodu – Oga Day, will be grand.
