-Elemuren, Oyefusi will form integral part of my cabinet, he says
The Chairman, Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Mr Rotimi Akeem Erogbogbo, who was re –elected on Sunday, for another two years, has declared that all contestants in the 2023 election, are winners and there are no losers.
He emphasized that both Prince Rasheed Elemuren and Prince Segun Oyefusi, who both vied for the position of the General Secretary of the socio – cultural, economic and developmental body, are going to form integral part of his second term administration.
Erogbogbo made the declaration in his acceptance speech after he was returned unopposed alongside 20 other officers in the election.
After the contest between Elemuren and Oyefusi, Elemuren won with 60 votes while Oyefusi garnered 41 votes.
A total of 53 clubs participated in the election and 101 delegates were accredited.
Mr Afuwape Abayomi, Chairman, 2023 IKODASS Election, declaring the results, said:
“The Chairman and other contestants in the elections are, hereby, returned unopposed since they do not have opponents”, Mr Afuwape declared.
“For the post of the General Secretary; number of the accredited voters is 101 and all valid. Out of the votes cast, Elemuren has 60 votes and Oyefusi has 41 votes. So, our General Secretary – elect for this association for the year 2023/2025 is Elemuren Rasheed Adesola”, he further declared.
The returning IKODASS Chairman, Mr Erogbogbo, in his speech, said:
“With the kind permission of my leaders here and clubs, I want to announce to you that these two gentlemen (Elemureen and Oyefusi) shall be members of the IKODASS 2023/2025. Take my words, I will be assigning the position of a Special Adviser to the other. Let me assure you, that the position of the Special Adviser is not that of a Personal Assistant to the Chairman. It is a full – fledged exco member.
“I want to tell you that in my honour, I will be blessed to work with the two of them. I can’t do without both”, he said.
Earlier, Erogbogbo, who said that his administration’s achievements are well documented and in the public domain, said that 45 students have been given scholarships by the IKODASS under his leadership in the last two years.
“Just yesterday, we presented scholarships sponsored by Sen Tokunbo Abiru to another set of students that will benefit from the gesture for the next three years. In the last two years, we have been able to give 45 students in higher institutions scholarships. That is what we want to improve upon. We want to give our young ones and lkorodu, a good future”, he said.
He also let stakeholders at the gathering into his plans for the next two years.
“We are going to build an hostel on one of our lands at Kasoleri close to the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) to generate income for IKODASS”, Erogbogbo revealed.
“We are also talking with someone to give IKODASS a bus on a higher purchase”, he said.
Erogbgogbo, who said that the government did not give the association any grant in the last two years, added that the association has executed its programmes successfully. He, however, appealed to the Lagos State Government to support IKODASS.
He also said that the association has concluded plans with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, to establish MSMEs training centre at the IKODASS Civic Centre at Kasoleri, lkorodu.
While appealing to club members and entire Ikorodu residents to identify more with the socio – cultural and developmental body, the returning Chairman also said that IKODASS is interested in what the Lagos and the Federal governments are allocating to Ikorodu in terms of political appointments and projects, aftermath the division’s performance at the recently concluded 2023 General elections.
Past Chairmen and leaders of IKODASS at the election were: Sir (Otunba) Ayodele Elesho, the Agbaakin of Ikorodu Kingdom, Otunba Ganiyu Adesegun Abiru, Executive Secretary, Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative (IDPIL/GTE), Alhaji Wahab, former IKODASS Deputy Chairman, Comrade Kehinde Okeowo, IKODASS leader, Mr Adeleke Kara, Ikorodu representative on TESCOM and Alhaji Fatai Olaiwola Kolawole (De Groom), former IKODASS Deputy Chairman.
Other elected officers are: Alhaji Lateef Adeyeri (Deputy Chairman), Alhaji K.B. Tijani Ajalogun (Vice Chairman), Olatunji Sakioye (Assistant Secretary), Mr. Samson Disu (Treasurer), Prince Abdulfatai Alagbe (Financial Secretary), Oludare Oshikoya (Publicity Secretary), Mr. Adeshile Kassim (Social Secretary), Mr. Musbaudeen Alejo (Assistant Social Secretary) and Mr. Onibudo Rilwan (Welfare Officer).
The list also includes: Ms. Olaide Adebiyi (Internal Auditor), Barr.
