His Eminence Fadhilat Sheikh Yahya Olorunosebi Oshoala, Chief Imam, Oriwu Central Mosque, has stated that it is the duty of every Muslim faithful in Ikorodu and elsewhere to contribute to the ongoing construction of the …. (Muslim Cemetery).
The respected Islamic scholar said that the 6.5 hectares of land acquired for the purpose at Isiwu in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, will serve as the final resting home for everyone, hence, the need to be part of its development.
Imam Oshola, who spoke with THE IMPACT in his office at the Oriwu Central Mosque, Ikorodu Garage Roundabout, Ikorodu, also explained that the ongoing project has attained further development than when it initiated some years back.
“Alhamdulilah, it is going perfectly well, though, it is not in the state that it was when it was initiated by Olori (Olori Muyibat Oyefusi). The way Olori took it up was different from how it is going now”, Imam Oshoala explained.
“Now, the Muslim community has taken it upon themselves. They have gone to purchase about 6.5 hectares of land which they have paid for and have started working on it.
“We have been contributing immensely towards it, with the income in place and coupled with efforts of those in charge, they have been performing very well”, the Islamic cleric said.
The Islamic leader appealed to every Muslim to contribute to the development of the cemetery.
“I want to appeal to our people because we all owe it a duty to contribute to it because that is the home for everybody. We just have to contribute to it, whether you have where you are going to be buried or not. That is the home for everybody”, he said.
“You can’t say everybody in your family should be buried in your house. If they bury you in your house, will they bury your wife and your children there, no? So, let us be up and doing and contribute whatever that we have to make sure we succeed in establishing it properly”, Chief Imam Oshoala pleaded.
