-Call for residents, students’ patronage
Exhibitors and patrons at the ongoing 2nd edition of the Ikorodu Division Trade Fair (IKODIV) 2023, have commended the idea of the important economic gathering that is showcasing the entrepreneurship skills of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the division.
The exhibition, which kicked-off on Sunday, March 26, at the Convocation Ground of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), was officially declared open today by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu.
The IKODIV 2023 will run through April 2, 2023.
Olori Adetokunbo Dosunmu Oyebo, Olori Obateru of Egbin Kingdom and Director, African (BQ) Solar Energy Technology Company Limited, while commending the initiative, added that it has been a worthwhile experience for the company which joined the fair today.
She highlighted some of the company’s products on display.
“We have solar power of different kinds, inverters to power your houses and offices among others. They are really powerful and strong. Our products vary and depend on what customers want”, Olori Oyebo said.
“We have the capacity to power a room, entire house and even for your companies. It depends on the demands and needs”, she said.
The wife of the Egbin monarch also appealed to other entrepreneurs to see the fair as an opportunity to showcase their products and services, while also charging residents to come out and patronize the exhibitors.
“I want people at home to come out to exhibit their businesses too. We came to this trade fair this morning and we have started doing well. It’s a good experience for me. It’s going on well and we have been selling”, she said.
“It is also important for our people to also come out to see the products and services that we have in stock for them. They should come out to patronize us”.
Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, Chairman, Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS), also speaking with THE IMPACT at the fair, said:
“We should give kudos to the organisers for the fair. This is the second edition and this is the starting of the exhibition this year. We have many products from small scale entrepreneurs on display and it is our belief that if we have more of this, business owners will be encouraged to do more”, he said.
“We are not even aware that some of these businesses are in existence or their locations. With this exhibition, we will be able to know them and be able to identify the owners and see reasons why we should stay here and buy our own products instead of going to Lagos. It’s a good thing and a big thing for us to have this exhibition”.
He requested residents to encourage small scale entrepreneurs by patronizing their stands at the ongoing fair.
“I want to request people at home to come around and patronize our own people. This event will last for seven days, I want other exhibitors to be part of it and I also want people to come around to see what they are doing”, Mr Erogbogbo appealed.
“Our people need to come around to see how far our entrepreneurs have gone. These are mostly made – in Nigeria products, and to see that Ikorodu is a business hub. There is no doubt about that.
“This is an encouraging point for business owners, vendors and buyers as well”, he said.
President, Association of Marketing Students, Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), who also was at the trade fair ground with some of her officers and students, also commended the organisers of the fair.
She expressed confidence that many products and services on display will attract students to the fair.
