The candidate of the Action Alliance in the just concluded State Assembly election, Mr Idowu Olaiwola Adeleke, has turned out to be the first to congratulate his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart, Mr Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo (OGA) who was, earlier today, declared as the winner of the Ikorodu Constituency I Assembly seat in the Saturday’s Gubanatorial and State Assembly elections.
In declaring OGA the winner, Prof. Bassey Ubana, the Returning Officer, Ikorodu Constituency I, at the INEC office in Ikorodu, said that the APC candidate polled 37,341 votes.
His closest rival, Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates garnered 8,195 and 2, 886 votes respectively.
The congratulatory statement by the AA candidate is reproduced below:
My congratulatory message to ‘OGA’
“I, Hon. Idowu Olaiwola Adeleke, candidate of the Action Alliance for the Ikorodu Constituency 1 seat in the just concluded election into the Lagos State House of Assembly to represent the good people of Ikorodu, hereby, accept your victory as declared by the INEC”.
“I pray to God to give you the enablement and fortify you with the required wisdom, knowledge and understanding to represent the people of Ikoròdu. I also want to charge you not to deviate from the promises made to them. You shouldn’t be an idealist alone but also a realist who transforms promises into actions.
“As you know that the election was not like the way it used to be in the past, because a lot of people blessed with experience and knowledge, competed for the same office which eventually came to your favour, you will need to do well to justify the people’s trust in you.
“The surest way to be happy is to seek happiness for others”
“Once again, congratulations and God bless”.
