The Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Lagos governorship election, Olufunke Akindele, lost her polling unit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Saturday’s Gubanatorial election.
Akindele, who cast her vote at polling unit 019, Ita Aro in Ikorodu, was unable to hold the ground for her boss, Mr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, against the incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo – Olu’s party.
She polled 19 votes to the APC/Sanwo – Olu’s 77 votes.
However, the PDP candidate was able to defeat Mr Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, Labour Party candidate who performed better than her party in most units covered by our reporters.
LP polled 3 votes in Akindele’s unit.
In her bid to win her polling unit, Akindele arrived early to the area to mobilise residents, especially youths. This was quickly countered by the APC operatives that responded quickly on hearing of her arrival.
