First Class traditional rulers in Lagos State, His Royal Majesties, Oba (Engr.) Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu and Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, have lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the 2023 Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections.
The royal fathers gave their commendations after they cast their votes in Ikorodu and Igbogbo respectively.
While Ayangbure voted at 018, Lowa junction, Ikorodu, Adeboruwa exercised his own franchise at the polling unit 011, Surulere Estate, Igbogbo.
Meanwhile, Oba Shotobi, in his royal remarks, said:
“The INEC has done wonderfully well and I also want to thank all the polling agents. They’re monitoring everything and everything is going on as expected”, Oba Shotobi said.
“With the crowd I am seeing here, people are truly out to vote and I can’t talk about people who are not in this community. At this junction, we have many polling units and I have been to them. The end will justify the means. We will see the results and it is going to be encouraging.
“If you have been following Lagos politics, you will know Ikorodu is a force to be reckoned with. You can even see that as at the last election, we delivered 50,000 votes and you should know Ikorodu is special and you will see the results this time around, it is going to be higher than the last one”, Ayangbure.
In his own royal remarks, Oba Kasali said:
“The turnout was impressive and a lot of people came out to exercise their civic responsibility. We appreciate the fact that INEC has been able to sustain the effectiveness demonstrated within our area during the presidential election. They came early and people have been orderly”, the revered royal father said.
“You can see that people are happy and cheering themselves up. We don’t have electoral apathy here, and we are expecting a good result at the end of the day”.
