-Monarch’s former school mates offer special prayers for Tinubu, Sanwo – Olu’s re – election
It was another eventful pre – Ramadan lecture on Sunday, March 12, 2023, when the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa (Oba) Engr. Kabir Adewale Shotobi, hosted chieftains and members of his alumni association for the 2023 pre – Ramadan lecture.
The old students of the Zumratul Islamiyyah Grammar School Old Students’ Association (ZIGSOSA) 715 (1971 to 1975) set converged on the banquet hall of the palatial Ayangbure palace alongside the royal family, as they were lectured by Alhaji Sheikh Saheed Olorunloraemiyin, Chief Missioner, Alasatu Agbalaye, Ikorodu branch, Asolo.
At the well – attended annual gathering, the erudite scholar led ZIGSOSA members in offering special prayers for the President – elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor of Lagos State who is seeking re – election, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu and Oba Shotobi and family.
They also remembered founding fathers and mothers of the association and other members who have departed to the world beyond, with prayers.
For the living, Alhaji Olorunloraemiyin, offered sound and life – saving advice through his lecture.
He charged the living to offer their dead parents and other loved ones prayers on daily basis, stating that such prayers are converted to food for them in their graves.
While charging members of the association to invest in their young ones who, according to him, will in turn take care of them at old age, the guest lecturer said that life of anyone that failed to invest in their children is always precarious.
Also in his soul-searching lecture, the revered lslamic scholar also said that old age needs peace of mind and charged ZIGSOSA members to always unburden their minds and positively impact those around them so that they will be forever remembered when they finally departed this world.
On the coming Ramadan period, he urged muslim faithfuls to endeavor to observe the Holy month fasting, adding that sighting, hearing and thoughts are three major factors that always hindered the appropriate observation of the Ramadan fasting.
“Unfortunately, these three things cannot let anyone of the flesh to observe Ramadan appropriately. This is because we don’t have control over them”, he said.
“For your Ramadan prayers to be accepted before God, you must fast with your hearts and soul for it to be fully accepted”, he added.
In his royal remarks, Oba Shotobi, who said that members of ZIGSOSA have every reason to be thankful to God, also thanked the guest speaker for his attendance every year and his impactful lecture.
“We have every reason to be thankful; we gathered here last year, and we are all still here this year. In actual fact, many are just joining us”, the revered royal father said.
“The occasion always presents us with the opportunity to thank God and prepare for Ramadan. It is also enables us to seek for more blessings from God”.
Ayangbure also charged members to adhere strictly with the words of advice given by the guest speaker, while also telling them to be mindful of everything at old age.
He also pleaded with his old mates to ensure that they mobilise their family members to vote for Governor Sanwo-Olu’s election come Saturday, March 18.
Kabiyesi said that he was happy with the election of Asiwaju Tinubu as the President – elect, and also delighted with the performances of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu as governor of the state.
