-He has performed, he deserves second term– Regional Pastor
There has been a divine intervention for the second term bid of the incumbent governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, as The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Ikorodu, has assured him of its support.
The RCCG’s acceptance and spiritual support came on Sunday when the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency and the Chairman, House Committee on Defense, Rep. Babajimi Benson led an entourage to the headquarters of the Church in Ikorodu located at Pashokun Street, where he met with the Regional Pastor and other pastors and elders of the Church, all over Ikorodu, on Sunday, March 5, 2023.
During the visit, the Church acknowledged that the governor has performed in his first term and that he deserved a second term and to this end, the governor was offered a special prayer.
Also getting the Church blessings was Rep. Benson who pledged his assistance and that of the Chairman, Special Committee On Rehabilitation Of Public Schools (SCRPS) and General Manager, Lagos State Public Works Department, Engr. Lateef Somide, towards the rehabilitation of the Church building roof.
Pastor Dele Olowookere, the Regional Pastor in Ikorodu, in his keynote address, thanked the governor for deeming it fit to send a delegation to visit the Church and for acknowledging its impacts.
“We want to thank the governor for deeming it fit to send an entourage to us to appreciate the Church in Ikorodu land. When we look around, we are not the only Church in Ikorodu, but for the governor to have it in mind to send a delegation to visit and appreciate what God is doing, we are most grateful sir ”, Pastor Olowookere said.
“We thank His Excellency for this show of love. We also want to thank the Honorable and his entourage for this courtesy visit this afternoon.
“We pray that one way or the other that there will be a blessing attached to this visit”, the Pastor prayed.
The RCCH Regional Pastor, while stating that the Church is not partisan in any way, however, acknowledged that Governor Sanwo – Olu in the last four years has performed, and added that such a feat deserves to be compensated with another term.
He assured the delegation that the Church will support the governor’s second term bid with prayers, while also assuring them that chieftains and members of the Church that are members of the APC would ensure that they reach out.
“As a Church, we are not partisan. Like our father always says, that the Church belongs to so many parties and members of our Church are in different parties. As we are in APC, so also we have people in PDP, Labour Party and others, but one thing that we have seen is that the governor has done his bit for the past four years in Lagos”, Pastor Olowookere said.
“His efforts are visible and all the things that he has done are written on the wall and people can read that he has actually performed, and if somebody has done something good, he should be allowed to try again”, the man of God added.
“We, as a Church, believe and we are praying for the governor and God will help him. He needs God’s help and God will help him in the name of Jesus.
“We want to assure you, sir, that we will be praying fervently for him; for God to support his second bid and He will see him through in the name of Jesus Christ.
“We also want to tell you, sir, that some of our members are part of you. I know that those that really belong to the party will move between now and weekend because they know that the governor has shown that he loves them and he knows that they are here and that they will do a lot of grassroots work for him. God will help your party in the name of Jesus Christ”, Pastor Olowookere said.
Speaking earlier, Rep. Benson had informed the gathering of Senior Pastors and elders that he was on visit to the Church on behalf of the Governor of Lagos State and APC.
The two – term lawmaker, who was recently re – elected for a third term, also said that the delegation was in the Church to thank the RCCG for its impacts on Ikorodu and residents’ lives generally.
