A chieftain of the Labour Party (LP) in Ikorodu Local Government, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, Hon. Sola Opeyemi Taiwo, has said that the last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly polls in Ikorodu was free and fair.
Hon. Sola, who is the Chairman, Labour Party Elders Forum in Ikorodu, also accepted the re – election and return of the All Progressives Candidate (APC) for the House of Representatives seat for Ikorodu, Rep. Babajimi Benson, stating that his own party did not field any candidate for the position and that of the Senatorial election.
He spoke with THE IMPACT at the INEC office on Sunday after the declaration of the Rep. Benson as the winner.
“The election was free and fair. It went well. The security operatives were on ground and they did their job accordingly. The BVAS machine did well, but in some areas only few people can vote and which created some issues”, he said.
“He (Rep. Babajimi Benson) is the winner of the election. I give it to him because Labour Party did not have candidate for House of Representative and Senate”, he said.
The chieftain of the LP, however, was confident that his party’s candidate, Mr Peter Obi, will win the Presidential election in Ikorodu and will be returned as the winner throughout of the country.
“For the presidential election, Labour Party is winning. We are winning Ikorodu and winning the federation, unless there’s any other atrocity but I know we are going to win”, he declared.
