A revered royal father and the Permanent Vice Chairman, Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs, His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa (Oba) Engr. Kabir Adewale Shotobi, has stated that Nigerians trooped out massively to vote, because they are interested in the country getting her democratic journey right.
The royal father also commended the Ikorodu people for their readiness to be counted politically, and the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) for the improved organization.
The Ayangbure of Ikorodu expressed his view while speaking with journalists after casting his votes in the Presidential, Senatorial and House of Representatives elections at polling booth 018, Lowa junction, Ikorodu.
“This is not my first time of voting, but this one looks very seamless. BVAS gave account for modern technology and it has given me confidence. I don’t know the background input, but it gives me hope. I saw many people moving out en masse. I made sure that I looked for my card and that of my children and we all voted. This is my card, I have performed my own civic responsibility (showing his PVC and thump printed finger)”, Kabiyesi said.
“On my way to my polling booth, I saw many people at other booths along the way. They care less if there is petrol or not; cash (naira) or not, people came out to vote because they have seen enough and they want us to get it right this time around.
“What I meant by this time around is that we are not ready to experiment with this presidential election and Ikorodu is ready for it. We have promised that we will deliver in Ikorodu, and that is why the majority of people came out to perform their civic responsibility”, Oba Shotobi added.
“My people are doing very well, and I am happy. I am telling the whole world now that my constituency is wonderful. They came out to vote and people are still coming”.
Oba Shotobi, commending INEC for the conduct of the Presidential and the National Assembly elections, said:
“The INEC officials are up to the task. They are trained and diligent in the discharge of their jobs. They showed great courtesy and a good approach. The polling agents are all on the standby to ensure that nobody is deprived of performing his or her civic responsibility, and for me, it did not take more than 3 minutes for the BVAS to identify me and I voted”, Kabiyesi said.
“Everything is perfect, and I am happy with the people that came out to vote; I am very happy with the INEC official; the Polling agents, and I am also happy for everyone in Ikorodu. They knew what to do and they were very educated. They followed the due process in voting. I am very happy and like I told you, we are not in for experiment, but for reality and the reality will come out sooner than later. By tomorrow, the winner that we all want will surely emerge by the special grace of God”, the royal father said.
