In continuation of its humanitarian and community development gestures which have been going on for about five years, Pepc Foundation, a non – partisan and non – governmental organization, is set to provide refreshment for thousands of voters across polling units in Lagos.
The exercise is tagged, ‘Your vote counts’.
In a statement by Barr. Luqman Akinsanya, the founder of the organization, the election to bring in a new government provides another opportunity to show love and support to Nigerians and support them in making correct decisions.
He said that the foundation is working with the INEC Electoral Officers, and various local governments to ensure that the relief materials are delivered without hampering the electoral process.
“Voting rights and the agitation for a better Nigeria, are deeply interconnected. As our people are going to perform their civic responsibilities, it’s more important than ever to ensure fair and equal access to the ballot box”, Akinsanya said.
“The project, “Your vote counts”, is the initiative of PEPC Foundation geared towards providing refreshment to our people at the polling unit as we believe this is a period to express love and support, in the spirit of peace and prosperity to our dear country, Nigeria.
“As at the time of this press release, we are working directly with electoral officers in different local governments, so as to know how the distribution of relief packs at polling units won’t disrupt the flow of the electoral process on the election days”.
He said that PEPC is involved to encourage voters to come out and vote in their large numbers so as to drive developments to various communities after the poll.
He also reiterated that the group is not partisan in any way.
“Higher voter participation has been associated with higher and more positive outcomes in communities, as well as increased attention from our elected officials and candidates for office. It simply means that the politicians have access to voting polls of each community which means if they get more votes in your community, it will increase the chances for developments, and a lower turn out would only mean otherwise”, he said.
“We are NON-PARTISAN, we only care about the people in our communities regardless of your age, ethnicity, religion or the political party you belong to”.
“Let’s have a peaceful election. Your voice. Your vote. Your future”, Akinsanya appealed.
Pepc Foundation is a non – partisan and non – governmental organization with the vision to be the voice of the people by creating opportunities that support their voices and ideas. With positivity and guidance as its core values, the group aims to strengthen mental activities towards a more productive future.
