-Calls for support for Sanwo – Olu, other APC candidates
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Lagos State and Convener, Babajide Olushola Sanwo – Olu Youth Professional Support Group (BOSYOPS), Ms Bisola Ruth Olusanya, has charged youths on the need to be fully part of the 2023 political decision by mobilizing themselves and residents to collect their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) and canvass for votes in the coming elections.
Olusanya, who charged youths to ensure that there is improvement in the votes from Ikorodu in the coming general elections, also reiterated that the BOSYOPS is not a political platform, but a professional movement with focus on developments.
She gave the charge at the inauguration of BOSYOPS across Wards in Ikorodu Division at the Ikorodu Ultra – Modern Town Hall on Sunday, February 6, 2023.
“Our votes have been low in Ikorodu. We need to record more votes to further and attain our potentials”, Commissioner Olusanya charged.
“Few months ago, Ikorodu was declared as the third largest city in Southwest Nigeria but our votes do not translate into this.
“We cannot allow Ikorodu to decline. If our votes are low, so will be the patronage. In that way, it is only our votes that we can use to bring more development to Ikorodu”, she added.
“We are too big not to attract big votes in Ikorodu and big patronage. It is only through our votes that we can achieve this. We can do this; we only need to change our attitudes towards elections.
Commissioner Olusanya, charging the youths to take responsibilities in mobilizing and canvassing residents to collect their PVCs and come out on the election day to vote, said:
“Youth must start showing leadership and leading by good examples. Let us go out there to mobilise and canvas for votes”, she said.
“Let’s call our families and friends to cast their votes for the APC candidates. If we say that we are not concerned, we will be culprits and culpable for the underdevelopment.
“Let us come together to show our strength and vote for the right candidates. My own vote will go for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Babajide Sanwo – Olu, Senator Abiru, Babajimi Benson, Gbolahan Ogunleye and Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA)”, Olusanya declared.
While explaining her reasons for canvassing for support for Gov. Sanwo – Olu’s re – election and other APC candidates, Olusanya said:
“It is only Lagos that has an AA international rating; Lagos can stand alone with its resources and huge potentials”, she said.
“It is only in Lagos that we have BRT, Lagos Rice Mill, Nollywood flourishing, Red and Blue Rail lines, Deep Seas Port and it is the most secured state.
“As much as people are leaving Nigeria, many are coming into Lagos willingly because of what Lagos is to them.
“Sanwo – Olu has been improving and taking Lagos to where it has to be”, she added.
The Commissioner also reiterated that BOSYOPS is not a political group that would go into extinction after the election, rather, she said that the group will continue to support youths and be concerned with developments across the state.
“BOSYOPS is not mainly for the coming elections, unlike other groups, our group will still be functional after the election. That is even when our real work begins”, she said.
“That’s when our work will start. We are not like other groups that would fizzle out after the elections.
“As we lay our beds, so shall we lay on it; as we come out to vote; so we will get the reward.
“BOSYOPS as a group, after the election, will be concerned with developments in our areas, and I would expect our members to be responsible for calling the attention of the government to where attention is needed”, she added.
Hon. Azeez Jimoh Olosugbo, a chieftain of the group, inaugurating the Ward Coordinators, explained the idea behind the initiative.
“We are here to inaugurate BOSYOPS Wards in Ikorodu. The Coordinators in each ward are expected to go back home to inaugurate the other four members of your team that you came with today and others that you might want to include in your team”, he said.
“We are going to provide you with materials and other logistics needed to mobilise and canvass for votes in your various areas.
“Ours is to provide you with support, and we expect you to work freely and independently so as to achieve the desired results. You are the one familiar with your environments.
“The idea is to ensure that youths feature prominently in the mobilization for PVC collection, and canvass for votes independent of the party structure”, Olosugbo further stated.
After the inauguration of BOSYOPS Ward Coordinators in Ikorodu Division, the inaugurated Coordinators and other members of their team numbering about 700 took pledge to canvass, support and mobilise for the victory of Babajide Sanwo – Olu and other APC candidates in the coming general elections.
