If late Hon. (Mrs) Felicia Ebun Alli – Balogun is opportuned to look back and see how her children, family and in – laws, especially the Aroyewuns, celebrated her death, she would no that be fill with joy and satisfaction.
Late Alli – Balogun, former Supervisory Councilor for Health, Ogori Magongo Local Government and retired Matron, Ogori General Hospital, Kogi State, was accorded a befitting burial in lgbogbo as children, family members and friends came from far and near despite the prolonged scarcity of cash and fuel, to bid her final farewell.
The former matron, community leader, devoted Christian, mother and grandmother, passed on December 20, 2022, at a ripe age of 82.
At the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Sheriff junction, Ikorodu, where the burial and outing services held for late Alli – Balogun, on Friday, February 3, 2023, the Vicar –in – Charge of the Church, Ven. Folorunsho Oginni, described her as a disciplinarian who trained her children in God’s way and to be useful for the society.
The Vicar, in his sermon, said that many parents today destroyed their children because they failed to instill discipline in them. He charged that the society will have to go back to the era where not only parents but the larger society as well contribute to the upbringing of every child.
While admonishing the congregation that they should live a life that would afford them to give good accounts of themselves on the day of the judgment, Ven. Oginni called on the government to stop making lives difficult for the citizenry.
Other officiating priests at the service were Ven. Samuel Afolabi (Assisting Priest), The Revd. Canon Kingsley Ogundare and The Revd. Samuel O. Adigun.
After the burial service, the white hearse bus conveyed the remains late Alli – Balogun to the Igbogbo Cemetery where she was interred.
Hon. Taofeek Adeyinka Aroyewun, President, Council of Maritime Transport Unions and Associations (COMTUA), the deceased’s in – law, described her as a wonderful mother.
“Mama was a wonderful mother in – law. We shall greatly miss her. May God continue to rest her soul. Rest in peace, Iya Ogori”.
Mrs Adebukola Aroyewun, daughter of the deceased, in her tribute, said:
“There is time for everything, that is why God called you back home. Thank you for being example of acre, love hardwork and family bond to us. You were, without doubt, the best mother anybody would wish to have. You are very generous, humble, honest, hardworking and disciplined. You always did your best towards everybody that came your way. Maami, death cannot steal my sweet memories of you because your soft spoken voice told great tales of wisdom. You lived a fulfilled, peaceful and whispering life. I knew it was God’s will for you to go at this time, and it dawned on me that you have gone to rest. I will miss you. Goodnight Mummy till the resurrection day”.
Guests, including Dr and Dr (Mrs) Ajayi of the Ajayi Medical Centre, Hon. Sefiu Ogunyemi, APC chieftain, Chief Jelili Sanni, Mrs Funmi Aroyewun, Alhaji Muiz Aroyewun, Mr Hameed and Aroyewun (HOA), former aspirant, Ikorodu Constituency II, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Koleosho, former Councilor, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Barr. Adeleke Bakare, Ref. Jelili Ogunumuyiwa (FIFA) many other dignitaries, family members, friends and associates were entertained at the Miksson Onas Event Hall, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, Igbogbo.
Also at the burial are chieftains of the Council of Maritime Transport Unions and Associations (COMTUA).
