The Ikorodu Crystal Club has donated food materials and other items to the Lagos State Rehabilitation Home, Agric, Ikorodu, as its continuous support for the inmates and government’s efforts towards their rehabilitation.
Chieftains of the club, who were led by their President, Alhaji Olawale Tairu Mohammed Amusa, also commended the efforts of the government in providing for the over 1000 inmates and keeping the environment conducive.
The visit to the rehabilitation home on Thursday, February 2, 2023, was part of the activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the club, which started last weekend.
Among the items donated were bags of rice, bags of garri, bags of Semovita, cartons of indomie, cartons of biscuits, packs of soft drinks, packs of bottled water, toiletries and clothing materials among others.
While donating the items to the management of the home, the Club’s president, Alhaji Amusa said that the items were donated as part of the club’s support for the efforts of the government in rehabilitating inmates and also the Club’s way of showing concern for those in need.
“We are here today to donate some products and materials to the rehabilitation centre for the use of the inmates”, he said.
“We are here to thank God for our lives and what He has been able to do for us as members of the Ikorodu Crystal Club which we are celebrating its 50th anniversary.
“We deemed it fit to give back to the society; those in need, and that is why we are here with chieftains of the club”.
He commended the staff of the centre for taking care of the inmates.
“We thank you for taking care of those in the rehab. It is not an easy task, that is why we are commending you and supporting you”, he added.
Alhaji Amusa appealed to the privileged people in the society and groups to support the government in rehabilitating residents needing rehabilitation.
Also speaking, Alhaji Moroof Dawodu – Olowosago, Chairman, Ikorodu Crystal Club 50th anniversary committee, commended the government and staff of the rehabilitation home for making the environment conducive for the inmates.
He charged members of the society to support the centre with food items and other materials.
Mr Asiyanbi Aderidesola, who received the donated items on behalf of the Lagos State Government, thanked the Ikorodu Crystal Club for the donation and support for the centre at all times.
“On behalf of the Lagos State Government and management of this centre, I thank you immensely for looking back and donating to this centre. Thank you”, he said.
After the presentation of the materials, members of the club were led on tour of the facility and during the inspection, they commended the health care facility, the neatness of the rahab and conducts of staff and inmates.
