Kunle Adelabu
Lagos State University (LASU) has elected Prof. Olufunsho Omobitan as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics.
Prof. Omobitan, a professor of Economics, before his current appointment served as the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, LASU.
His appointment as the DVC was announced on Monday, January 30 via LASU’s official Twitter handle.
Prof. Omobiatn specializes is development Economics with interested in Public Sector Economics.
He served several times as Head of Department 1992 – 1994, 1994 – 1998, 2011 – 2012, 2012 – 2014, and 2016 – 2018.
He was the coordinator of Lagos State University prestigious Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme between 1998- 2004.
Omobitan was educated at the University of Vienna, Vienna-Austria where he got his M. Sc. and Ph.d degrees in Economics.
He has participated in many seminars, workshops, conferences and committees
Prof. Omobitan who hails from Igbogbo in Ikorodu Division, will be replacing Prof. Wahab Elias, who is from Ikorodu. The immediate past DVC served for a 2-year single tenure.
