The Chairman, House Committee on Defense and the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, has called on Nigerians to give the All Progressives Congress (APC)Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the opportunity to use his capacity to re-enact what he has been able to achieve in Lagos throughout the country.
While also stating the current Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olushola Sanwo – Olu, who he said is transforming the state, deserves re – election, Rep. Benson also stated that the APC flag bearer will be due for the hall of fame after completing his second term going by his performances in the first term, especially relative projects he has initiated.
He made his positions known on ‘Your View’, a discursive programme on the Television Continental (TVC), recently.
The federal lawmaker, however, expressed his unhappiness that the Red and Blue Lines transportation system have not been extended to Ikorodu, considering the huge population of city.
“We have the governor who is also running; very dynamic and I am so happy about it because I asked for statistics and I am being told that Ikorodu people are being ferried from Ikorodu on daily basis with 8000 people using the ferry and multiply that by 20 days, that’s a huge figure because of his interventions in the waterways”, Rep. Benson said.
“250, 000 uses the BRT on a monthly basis from Ikorodu and because of major commissioning that will take place in the next couple of days. Ikorodu centric: Rice mill, 4th mainland bridge and guess what, those two key commissioning are being handled by two Ikorodu people as well – the Commissioner for Agriculture and Commissioner for Transportation.
“In a few years time, not just Ikorodu, but Lagos will be opened up and there will be jobs, jobs, jobs. We will build the 4th mainland bridge, commissioning the rice mill and deep sea port, who is going to enjoy those? The widows, children and everybody will be gainfully employed”, the federal lawmaker seeking re – election for the third term, emphasized.
“By the time the (current) governor completes his second term in eight years, he will be in the hall of fame because he’s doing great things.
“I did not even add the Red and the Blue lines, though, I am not happy because none of the two is going to Ikorodu. You can’t joke with Ikorodu because it is the third largest city in the Southwest”, Rep. Benson protested.
Speaking on Tinubu, Benson said:
“Let me now transmit that to our national leader. One judgment call that he made was the choice of his successor and that successor is the one that built and about to commission the second Niger Bridge and with this, the South Easterners will go home with ease. He brought Fashola who is also helping us complete our Ikorodu – Shagamu Road.
“Asiwaju has been able to showcase what he can do with Lagos, imagine if you give him Nigeria”, he asked.
He also spoke about the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, whom he said is presiding over the most innovative legislative session in the parliamentary history of the country.
“The Speaker (Femi Gbajabiamila) of the most innovative parliament in the history of Nigeria, is running. Fantastic guy who has added so much value to the Nigerian legislative space”.
