-Asks for rehabilitation of Ojediran Street
Sir (Otunba) Ayodele Elesho, KJW, the Agbaakin of Ikorodu Kingdom and former Commissioner for Information in Lagos State, has reacted to the rehabilitation of the Dangote/Ikorodu Ferry Terminal/Police Post axis of the TOS Benson Avenue, Ikorodu, which was badly damaged and caused motorists and other road users agonizing experience.
He was reacting to the report by THE IMPACT that the road which was closed for rehabilitation in October last year, has been re – opened at the weekend.
We reported the state of the road when residents cried out to the government for prompt intervention. Following the report and his own personal experience, Otunba Elesho issued a strong petition where he called on the government to address the bad state of the road.
The elder statesman has now commended the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederick Oladeinde, for the prompt action on the road, in a statement sent to THE IMPACT.
He also commended the GAC chieftain, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun who played an important role in ensuring that the state government intervened quickly.
“To God Almighty be the glory, that portion of our road which sometimes ago became a serious problem and albatross to motorists and pedestrians, have been fully reconstructed and opened for public use”, Sir Elesho said.
“I want to commend the prompt actions taken by the Hon Commissioner for Transportation Dr Frederick Oladeinde who rose up to the challenge immediately when the problems of that portion of the road was raised.
“He promised lkorodu Division people that the road will be reconstructed, a promise that has now been fulfilled and promptly delivered.
“I also, hereby, thank our Elder Statesman, Baba Aladura Olorunfunmi Bashorun, who also went out of his ways to regularly connect with top Government functionaries until the road is fully repaired, mention must be made of efforts of other political Leaders”, Otunba Elesho added.
While rehabilitation work was going on, Asiwaju Basorun also ensured that the Commissioner availed our reporter up – to – date information on the project.
The Agbaakin of Ikorodu also thanked the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, other elected members and Mr Seun Elesho for their roles.
“My sincere appreciation goes to our Representatives at both the National & State Assemblies who also contributed immensely to the repairs of the road, most especially Hon S.O.B Agunbiade who almost turned himself to site supervisor of the project”, he said.
“I must equally thank our youths for crying out loud on the sufferings and difficulties being faced by the people on that road. I must single out for commendation, Mr Abolaji Oluwaseun Elesho who personally led persistent and serious outcry on WhatsApp on the bad nature of the road.
“I thank various Social Media houses in Ikorodu Division for strongly supporting the clarion call”, he added.
Meanwhile, the former Commissioner has added his voice to that of residents of Ipakodo who pleaded with the state government to ensure that the Ojediran road that served as an alternative route when the Dangote/Police Post axis was closed for rehabilitation, is also rehabilitated as reported by our reporter.
“I want to appeal to the State Government to immediately rehabilitate the roads used during the closure of the main road. That road is no more in good shape”, he pleaded.
“Like Oliver Twist, we are appealing for more road rehabilitation across lkorodu Division ”, Otunba Elesho added.
