The Lords Heritage Foundation, a charity organization based in London, in partnership with the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, has extended hands of fellowship to residents of Ikorodu.
The charity group, which was recently registered with the aim of reaching out to African countries, especially people in need, and to spread the gospel of God, has also pledged to have more programmes that will benefit the people of Ikorodu.
About 500 residents who are people with disabilities, widows, widowers, aged and less privileged were presented with food items and other household items with cash support from His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu.
Also, children were given packages at the event held at the Ayangbure palace on Sunday, January 8, 2023.
Temiloluwa Tobi Lawal, an indigene of Ikorodu based in London and the first founder of the foundation, said that the charity organization was initiated to assist the less privileged in Nigeria and other parts of Africa.
“We just started our charity. We have registered it in London, United Kingdom. The main purpose for our charity is to help people who are less privileged, especially mothers, widows, widowers and people living with disabilities in Nigeria”, she said.
“We want to raise awareness not just in Nigeria. We are just starting in Nigeria because that’s where most of us are from but we want to go to places like Somalia, Kenya and other places in Africa where poverty is very strong.
“So, we want to extend the grace of God in our lives through our charity called the Lord’s Heritage. We praise God for allowing us to be here and to be a vessel to help”.
While thanking Oba Shotobi for the support provided, the founder of the charity, also said that he was touched seeing the beneficiaries.
“Firstly, I want to thank Oba (Shotobi) because it was a last minute planning. The oùba really helped us, even the fact that he allowed us to come down to his palace in only three days”, he said.
“I’m really happy seeing everyone’s face. It is a thing of joy to my heart, just being able to help people touches me. So, I am happy and grateful to Oba for helping us in this outreach.
Temiloluwa also unveiled her foundation’s future plans in Ikorodu.
“Yes, we want to do more educational stuff where we are going to be handing out educational materials. We are also going to be giving out Bibles next time that we are coming, but as I said, the main focus of our charity is just to spread love and in the process also spread the words of God as well. It is important to let people know that without God, we are nothing.
“We are really looking forward to doing educational outreach and also maybe paid house rents for people who are in need. We have many charitable ideas and we pray it all come to pass”, she added.
She charged other privileged individuals to always assist those in need.
“I just want to say to the privileged people that it is not our doing, but the grace of God. So, whatever we have, if we can extend it to people who don’t have it, there’s nothing more rewarding than that. So, my advice to privilege people is to go out there and give to people and share your joy. I want to encourage people to share the little that they have. It doesn’t have to be about money, just make someone smile”, she said.
Also speaking with our reporter, Oba Shotobi commended the donors for coming back home to show love, adding that awareness of giving to the less privileged is growing, unlike before when nobody catered for them.
“In the years back, we did not have these privileged people sympathize with less privileged ones, disabled and others, but nowadays, the awareness is going around the whole world”, the royal father said.
“I really appreciate the hands of fellowship that our children are extending to our people in lkorodu and I want to thank their parents for grooming them for a better tomorrow and with what we are seeing, we know our tomorrow is going to be good because they have come to do more back home.
“For those that have been privileged to be in overseas and they know what is needed back home in Ikorodu, we really appreciate it and I want to appreciate all the people that are here and also thank the Almighty God”.
The Ayangbure of Ikorodu charged other privileged individuals to emulate the Lords Heritage Foundation and reach out to people who are in need in Ikorodu.
Chairman, Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, also commended the donors for their impact on the people.
“We want to thank God for the lives of members of the Lord’s Heritage who are reaching out to the people in conjunction with the Ayangburen of Ikorodu. They are giving out to the less privileged in the society, and if you listen to the founder of the Heritage, she said that they are here to spread love and good news of the Lord to the people”, he said.
“As you can see, you heard her talk about good news and the love of God and we are grateful that our children abroad are doing this and we know the best is yet to come to our people”.
Aside the packages distributed to children at the venue, some of them that also participated in the dancing competition also received gifts from the foundation while Oba Shotobi doled out cash to them.
