The Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadabo – Alogba has stated that her food support initiative is an idea conceived to bring succor to the people in need in the council area.
The Motunrayo Ayonitemi Food Support Initiative was introduced last year by the Council boss, and many have benefitted from the gesture.
At the second edition of the initiative held at the premises of the Ijede LCDA, on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, 500 residents were presented with bags containing food items.
In her presentation, Hon. Alogba pleaded with beneficiaries to accept her gesture as an expression of her love to them.
“I am delighted to welcome everyone to the year 2022 second phase of the Motunrayo Ayonitemi Food Support Initiative that commenced at the inception of this administration”, she said.
“This distribution of palliative is my personal initiative aimed at affecting lives through interventions that would bring relief to the less privileged.
“While this program can only come twice in a year, I want to implore everyone to accept it as a gesture to extend love to all”, she pleaded.
“Since we started last year, we have touched thousands of families, particularly the elderly and the physically challenged. I, therefore, feel fulfilled that this initiative is bringing relief to our people, especially at a time like this when the economy of the country is making the cost of living unbearable for the average citizen”, she added.
“I am particularly happy that this second phase is coming at a season when love and goodwill should be shared to all and I want to use this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous year 2023 in advance”.
Many of the beneficiaries who described the Council boss as taking after her late mother’s humanitarian gesture, commended her for the food support.
Chief (Mrs) Rukayat Saromi (Otun Iyalode, Ijede), while speaking on the gesture extended to her, said that:
“It is quite commendable that Hon Motunrayo Gbabebo – Alogba is today giving food to the less privileged and also the widows in ljede community. We are happy about it. She’s doing well because she’s doing good things for us, and this is the second time she’s doing it this year”, she said.
“She had been doing it in her own little way, during her time as the Vice Chairman, and now continuing with the gesture as the Chairman, Ijede LCDA. I advise her that she should continue doing good for the people, and I pray for progress in her life and God will help her deliver on all her promises’ ‘, she prayed.
In her own remarks, Mrs Rukayat Hassan said:
