-Charges them on mobilizing for general elections.
As a grassroots politician who is concerned about the welfare and development of women, Hon. Rukuyat Ibukun Ajibike, the Honourable Supervisory Councilor, Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has, again, identified with her immediate constituency by slaughtering a cow to support them during the Xmas celebration.
Ajibike slaughtered the cow on the Christmas day at the Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in lkorodu West LCDA, and distributed the meat to women across the wards in the council.
The distribution was witnessed by the Council Chairman, Hon. (Otunba) Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, APC Woman leader, Alhaja Risikat Bankole and other party chieftains.
Hon Ajibike, who spoke with THE IMPACT, said that she shared the meat among the women in the spirit of the season, and to ensure that they have something to put on the table for their family, for the Christmas.
She added that the gesture was part of her ways of motivating the women for the task ahead relative to mobilizing them to work towards the success of her party (APC) and its candidates in the coming general elections.
“We are here to present Christmas gifts to our hardworking and dependable women. I brought a cow for our women in Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area, because they have always been there for me. Anytime that I call on them, they always respond to my call, either in the morning or night, they are there for me and you can witness it yourself right here”, she said thankfully.
“So, I thought about what to give them as a Christmas gift because a lot of people have been distributing rice, spaghetti and a lot more, but I decided to express my love in a different form. I gave them a cow to share among themselves, and I am very sure they are happy and glad to have it from me.
“By the grace of God, they will see more from me”, she added.
Ajibike, who said that she has been working with women in the council to get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), also said that she is also engaging them to mobilise people in their wards to vote in the coming general elections.
“Moreover, the general elections are coming and I want them to mobilise people in their environments to vote for our leader in the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President; Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu as Governor of Lagos State and also for our Senatorial, House of Representatives and Assembly candidates”, she said.
“I also want them to use every avenue, parties and social gathering attended during this yuletide period to campaign for them, and mobilise for our party and candidates”.
One of the beneficiaries of Ajibike’s gesture, Mrs Odewale Olufunmilayo, who spoke with our reporter, said:
“I am very happy to be part of the people who benefitted from this gesture being extended to the women in Ikorodu West Local Council Development area (LCDA). We aren’t expecting such from her”, she said.
“We are very happy about it, and we are also expecting more from her next year, by God’s grace. I pray that God will protect her and her family and also keep lifting her higher”.
Another beneficiary, Mrs Bola, in her reaction, said that:
“This is a laudable initiative, and we are all happy about it. Sincerely, many of us are not surprised at all because we know what she’s capable of doing. She has been identifying with us, and we are also with here”.
