Mr Samusideen Ademola Olutusin, ACIIN, FCIB, Managing Director/CEO, Denos Insurance Brokers Limited, has taken over as the 11th Chairman, Lagos Area Committee, The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, with a pledge to continue with programmes established to maintain oneness of the Council, which was pursued by previous administrations.
The new Chairman, who took over the baton of leadership from Mr Rotimi Olukorede, also said that his committee will embark on capacity building for members of the council.
The new chairman’s pledges were contained in his acceptance speech at his investiture ceremony held at 58, Moleye Street, Alagomeji, Yaba, Lagos, on Thursday, December 15, 2022.
The ceremony was themed, ‘Financial Inclusion, A Panacea for Deepening Insurance penetration’ with sub theme, ‘Branding And lmage Building of the lnsurance lndustry’, while Prof. Olufemi Sahibu, a professor of Economics, University of Lagos (UNILAG), delivered the main theme, and Dr. S. A.A. Aduloju, Associate Professor, UNILAG, delivered the sub – theme.
“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, I stand before you deeply touched and inspired by your generous words of congratulations and encouragement; and with boundless gratitudes for the confidence bestowed on me by the past Chairmen of this great Committee; I make a promise to honour that trust. It is with this posture that I humbly accept to serve you as the 11th Chairman of this great Committee”, Mr Olutusoin said.
“Let me also extend my deepest respect and appreciation to all the leaders and members of Lagos Area Committee for their strong support. Like Oliver Twist, we would be running to you for more support as occasions could demand. Over the years under various past chairmen, programmes and events were introduced, and in the spirit of oneness and continuity, each successor continued with all programmes of the predecessor and added more. To date, no programme of a predecessor was ever jettisoned and no project as ever personalized, with all projects executed as a team”, he assured.
Some of the programmes that the new Chairman said that he would continue with are: Career Talk, Market Visit, Lectures and Workshops, Technical Training, Corporate Social Responsibility and Executive Retreat.
“As it has been our tradition, the new Executive shall continue all programmes, and only re-model where necessary and as occasion or change in the industry demand. I want to implore you all to support this administration to enable us to serve you better. Let it be a collective duty and I plead that you can send us any idea that you have that will help us serve you well and better. I know we have a lot of potentials in this Committee, which we want to harness for our collective well- being”, he solicited.
Mr Olutusin also said that his committee will embark on building the capacities of members in complementing efforts of the national body of the organization.
“While our National leaders are breaking new grounds in collaboration with various players in the industry towards building a formidable industry, we, at LAC, will be complementing their efforts by building up members’ businesses (Broking Practice). We shall focus on Capacity Building through Business Trainings, Workshops and Networking Meetings. Possibility of exchange programmes shall also be kept in view for learning and exposure, as well as Strategically look for collaborations and support to aid our members’ businesses for stability and growth”.
He thanked the immediate past chairman of the Committee, Pastor Rotimi Olukorede, other past chairmen and members generally.
Profile of the new Chairman:
Ademola Olutusin started his academic life at Lagos City Council Primary School, Fadeyi (now Lagos Mainland Primary School) and later, Oriwu College, Ikorodu (now Oriwu Junior & Senior Model colleges, Ikorodu). He attended Ambrose Alli University where he bagged a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He has a Masters Degree in Human Resources Management from Lagos State University. He bagged a Diploma in Insurance from West African Insurance Institute (WAII).
He is an Associate Member of Chartered Insurance Institute (ACIIN), Nigeria, an Associate of Risk Manager Society of Nigeria (RIMSON), and a Fellow of Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (FCIB).
A seasoned Insurance Professional with more than thirty years cognate experience in Insurance World, Olutusin started his Insurance Career in 1990 at Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation as a Senior Officer. His passions to unleash fresh ground bring about the establishment of an outstanding Insurance Brokerage firm.
Olutusin is the Managing Director/CEO and the founder of Denos Insurance Brokers Limited.
He is a quintessential Professional in the development and deployment of insurance tools in solving financial challenges.
Ademola Olutusin is a Rotarian who has served Rotary as Sergeant-At-Arm, Vice President and President of Rotary Club of Gbagada South under District 9110 and two times Chairman Polio Plus Committee Rotary District 9110.
The new Chairman also served as a Part-Time Lecturer of the Insurance Department from 2008 – 2015 at the Lagos State Polytechnic Ikorodu.
He was a former Member, Board of Trustees (BOT), Oriwu College Old Students’ Association of Nigeria (OCOSAN).
Before his emergence as the chairman of the NCRIB (Lagos Area Committee, he had served as Internal Auditor; Financial Secretary; and Vice Chairman.
He has attended and facilitated several courses and training within and outside the industry.
A sociable and widely travelled leader, Ademola Olutusin is married and blessed with children.
