The representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, has announced that he has been able to secure additional funding for the completion of the Ikorodu – Shagamu Road which he played a major role in its ongoing rehabilitation.
According to the federal lawmaker who is the Chairman, House Committee on Defense, President Buhari made request for the additional funding in a Supplementary Budget presented at the plenary session on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.
He made the revelation in a statement today, published on his social media handles.
Benson, who is seeking re-election for the third term, assured his constituents and hundreds of other beneficiaries of the road which has already been prioritized in the 2023 Sukuk Bond, that the House of Representatives will ensure speedy passage of the Mr President’s request before Christmas and New Year vacation.
“Today at plenary, the House of Representatives received official communication from Mr. President requesting for the passage of Supplementary Budget to the existing 2022 budget”, the statement said.
“Please, recall that we have been in pursuit for the completion of the Ikorodu – Sagamu express road which require funding provision in 2023. I am glad to inform residents that the road got additional N5,618,295,990 in the request submitted by the President to the House of Representatives today. Same project has been prioritised in the 2023 Sukuk bond. Constituents should be assured that my colleagues and I in the House of Representatives shall expedite the passage of the Supplementary Budget before our vacation”, Rep. Benson revealed.
“We are particularly grateful to the Honourable Minister for Works, His Excellency, Hon. Babatunde Raji Fashola, for his commitment and support in ensuring the completion of this important project”.
The lawmaker attached his letter to the Minister of Works, Mr Raji Babatunde Fashola, SAN, in which he requested that the project should be prioritized for completion in 2023, and proof of the additional sum requested by Mr President for the completion of the Ikorodu – Shagamu Road rehabilitation.
