A medical practitioner and community developer, Dr Adeleke Dankuwo, has revealed that his quest to become a medical doctor made him sat for Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination ten times.
Dankuwo, who said that he repeated the examination not because he didn’t have good grades in all his attempts, but because those grades were not adequate enough to be admitted to study Medicines.
The lgbogbo – born medical doctor made the revelation at the commissioning of his hospital, Cute Healthcare Limited, located at Agunfoye, Igbogbo in Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, on Saturday, December 17, 2022.
At the commissioning were: His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa (Oba) Barr. Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Builder Sesan Daini, Chairman, lgbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba, Chairman, Ijede LCDA, Chief (Mrs) Chief (Mrs) Karimot Jokotade Ojikutu, the Iyalode of Igbogbo, Dr Andu Abdul- Fatai Ademola, a medical practitioner, Chief Omololu Faniyi, a community leader, Mr Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun, former Assembly aspirant, Comrade Kazeem Ogunmuyiwa, President, Igbogbo Youth Coalition (IYC), Mr Ade Bolowoatan, Chief of Staff to Igbogbo/Bayeku Chairman, Alhaja (Hon.) Mrs Iyabo Salisu, Supervisory Councilor, WAPA and Hon. Wasiu Olowu, Supervisory Councilor, Tourism, lgbogbo/Bayeku LCDA among others.
Dr Dankuwo, while stating that he built the medical facility in Agunfoye as part of his contribution to the development of the community and to give back, made the revelation that stunned everybody, including the Council Chairman, Builder Daini who described Dankuwo’s resilience as ‘extra commitment’, while the medical practitioner thanked his brother for his support and encouragement which, according to him, have made him become what he is today.
“I want to thank my brother, Engr. Dankuwo who has been very supportive since I started schooling. I saw a book recently which I used in my secondary school. It was my Physics notebook. I cancelled the subject on it and changed it to another subjects about four times”, he said.
“At a time, I wrote Accounting on it and at another time, it was Physics. The reason was that I was scared because people were saying that Physics and other science courses are very tough, and at each point, my brother always encouraged me to focus on being a doctor.
“He encouraged and encouraged time and time and again.
“I wrote JAMB 10 good times, not because I did not pass but for the fact that I wanted to read Medicine. He always encouraged that I did not perform to the level that I ought to and he would always get another JAMB form for me”, he said while making the stunning revelation.
“I want to appreciate him today and thank God that he is witnessing today’s development’, he added.
