Kunle Adelabu
The Adebouwa of Igbogbo, His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa (Oba) Barr. Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, alongside the Chairmen of lgbogbo/Bayeku and Ijede Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), Builder Sesan Daini and Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba, respectively, on Saturday, December 17, 2022, commissioned Cute Healthcare Limited, a medical facility.
The facility, which came into being as a result of what the Igbogbo – born medical practitioner and community developer, Dr Adeleke Dankuwo experienced with residents during the COVID 19 pandemic, is situated at Agunfoye community in Igbogbo.
Explaining how the whole idea came into being, Dr Adeleke Dankuwo said that the clamouring for healthcare by residents during the pandemic outbreak which was lacking in the community necessitated the establishment of the Cute Healthcare Limited.
He said that aside the fact that the establishment will take care of residents of Agunfoye and Igbogbo at large, who are in need of medical care, he also added that it is his own way of giving back to the community that has given him much.
“It all started many years back when I considered giving back to the community”, Dr Dankuwo said.
“I can also consider moving out of the country too, but we all cannot go abroad and drain our country and community of brains needed for development. More so, we also have mothers that are ageing and looking up to us and we can’t just leave them.
“We can also decide to build this hospital at Lekki or elsewhere, but we chose to do it here because we were born, schooled and supported in this town to be who we are today. It is a way of giving back to my community. This is my community, and I decided to do something here in the form of giving back”, he emphasized.
“The initiative of this hospital started two years ago, that was 2020 at the beginning of Coronavirus when people were knocking at my door for medical help which they were unable to access due to restriction.
“There are many incidents like that, and I thought that this community will need a medical facility and we look for a place to start the service for the benefit of our immediate community and Igbogbo at large”, he further explained.
He was full of praise for his brother who supported him throughout his education and also encouraged him to write JAMB examinations several times to study medicines.
“I also thank my brother, Engr. Dankuwo who has been very supportive since I started schooling. I saw a book recently which I used in my secondary school. It was my Physics notebook. I cancelled the subject and changed it to another about four times”, he recalled.
“At one time, I would write Accounting on it and at another, it was Physics.
“The reason was that I was scared because people were saying that Physics and other science courses are very tough, and at each point, my brother always encouraged me to focus on being a doctor.
“He encouraged and encouraged me time and time and again.
“I also want to thank all my brothers and family members for their impacts in my life. I thank them all for the feat that I have achieved today”, Dr Dankuwo said.
“It’s also very important for me to thank and seriously appreciate my wife for the much needed support that she has been giving to me. She’s my pillar, friend ad partner”.
