Many shop owners at the popular Ladega market in Ikorodu Local Government, got to their shops today to found them sealed by the officials of the Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA).

Several other shops along the Ayangbure Road, Alhaji Street and garage were affected too.

It was alleged that the affected shop owners failed to pay their bills.

Our reporter, who visited the market earlier today, saw owners of the affected shops sat helplessly, while others were discussing in groups.

According to one of the affected shop owners, he said:

“We gathered that our shops were locked for failing to pay which is not true. We paid. Me, in particular, paid to the person we usually pay to, yet, they said that we have not paid.

Another affected individual, who also gave same reason, added that it was the third party that failed to remit the money to LAWMA.

Meanwhile, we were unable to reach the concerned PSP operators for their own side of the story as at the time of going to press.

When contacted, the LAWMA Public Affairs Officer, Mrs Kadiri, said that she will get across to the enforcement unit and the PSP operators to know what actually happened and revert back to our reporter.

She also tasked THE IMPACT to ask affected traders who claimed to have paid their bills, to show their evidences of payment.
