While the construction of the Igbogbo/Bayeku Road which the Lagos State Government is funding and being handled by the Lagos State Public Works Corporation, is progressing, work has been extended to the Odofin Street which links the road to the Ipakodo/Igbogbo road.
Work started on the Igbogbo road project in August, and the first phase would terminate at the Bayeku Prinary Health Centre (PHC).
Officials of the Ministry of Works moved to Odofin Street to start demolising marked structures to pave way for the construction work.
Excavation of land for drainage construction, which started at the Igbogbo/Ipakodo junction of Odofin Street, commenced last weekend and has progressed beyond the entrance of the Banjoko Street which is one of the streets adjoining Odofin.
Meanwhile, several houses were partially demolished before the commencement of the project. However, THE IMPACT gathered that the Pa Odunniyi house, which is an old storey building constructed with bricks and later covered with cement, at Itun Abosan, will be completely demolished.
All the tenants living in the building have already vacated, while the roof and necessary irons have been removed.
