Mr Abdulazeez Adekunle Awesu, a contender for the Ikorodu Federal Constituency seat, has again vowed to pursue the battle to regain his mandate to the apex court in the country.
Awesu, who lost his appeal at the Appeal Court in Lagos, last week to Mr AbdulKareem Olugbenga Shittu whom the court pronounced as the party candidate for the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, spoke with THE IMPACT on phone stating that he is following the matter through.
The young politician, who exuded confidence, stated that retrieving his mandate is the best thing to do for the party and in the interest of democracy.
“Definitely, I am following through the matter to the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land for justice, fairness and equity”, he assured.
“We are preparing to file our appeal and I have trust that the court, will dispense justice and retrieves our mandate for us.
“The party and teeming members of our party are still with us, because I am the one that the party gave its mandate to. I am also with my party and my people”, added.
Awesu said that he and his team of lawyers are more convinced that they have a good case after studying the judgment of the Appeal Court.
“We have studied the judgment and I must tell you that we have good chances at the Supreme Court. I will keep pushing for justice for the party and its members and not necessarily myself”, Awesu.
He pleaded with his supporters to remain calm and expect positive development from the Supreme Court.
Despite that he’s battling for the mandate in the court, the popular opposition figure said that he will be unfolding his plans for his supporters and the youths of Ikorodu Federal Constituency through his foundation for this year, soon.
