Residents from different communities of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have pleaded with the Council and the Lagos State Government to improve on roads, Primary Health Centres and Schools in their respective areas.
These three major requests were disclosed by stakeholders at the 2022 Budget/Stakeholders’ Forum held at the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA on Monday, November 7, 2022.
Many of the stakeholders at the meeting commended the chairman for the implementation of many of the requests made during last year’s forum.
Builder Sesan Daini, Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, speaking at the events, said that this year’s edition of the stakeholders’ meeting made it sixth since his assumption of office. He added that the forum usually provided the council the opportunity to tell constituents what the council has been doing and what also needed to be done.
“We have been able to do many of the requests made last year and that does not mean that we have done it all. There are still some pending things that still require our attention”, Builder Daini said.
“The intention of this stakeholders’ meeting is to hear from our people and listen to them on what they think are needed to be included in the 2023 budget; what are the things that we should add and if you think that there are things that we should remove, we equally want to know.
“Those that we have here are the official stakeholders in our LCDA and I want to officially welcome you all to this budget stakeholders’ meeting”, he said.
He said that the council has attended to many of requests made at the parley last year while briefing stakeholders on the performances so far.
“One of the major, in fact, the major request made by the Road Transport Union was the construction of the Market Street which is directly behind the market. I am happy to say that the construction is presently ongoing”, he said.
‘It is supposed to have been completed but we have one or two challenges. I can assure you that before the last week of this year or the second week of January, we are going to commission that road for usage”, Builder Daini assured.
“I need to equally state that one of the requests that was made was a major palliative on Igbogbo/Bayeku road which people find very difficult to ply, and we promised that we are going to attend to it.
“We actually attended to it with the support of the Dredgers Association and the Joint CDAs. We had a tripartite agreement where we made our own contribution, the Dredgers made theirs and the community also did their own part.
“And after that exercise, we succeeded in having good palliative which has made the road motorrable, but has God will have it, our leader, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun and Kabiyesi, Oba Abdul Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali had a meeting with the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olushola Sanwoolu, on having a permanent palliative on that road.
“At the end of the day, knowing well the electoral value of our community and the importance of that road, the Governor gracefully approved the total reconstruction of Phase 1 of that road”.
Other requests that the Chairman said that the Council has implemented are: provision of benches and desks in schools with over 1000 woodworks distributed across schools; changing of blackboards into white boards in all schools and provision of lawn mower.
Others are: establishment of Olu – Odo Primary School, fencing of schools, provision of transformers at Lajo and Macaulay communities and provision of solar lights from Igbe down to Club 24 among others.
Elder M.A.O. Olowu, a chieftain of the Community Development Committee (CDC) and Community Development Association (CDC/CDA) in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, called on the council to provide palliative on the Gintin Road and help the community in controlling the flooding.
“We are appealing to Mr Chairman, to assist us in providing a palliative measure on the Gintin road where we have a very terrible road that is causing flooding. This would help us in controlling the flood that usually disturbs us whenever it rains’’, he said.
He also charged the council on the Offin/Oreta road while pleading with the state government for the immediate commencement of the Phase 2 of the ongoing Igbogbo/Bayeku Road, so as not to create hardship for residents after the Prince Abiodun Ogunleye Housing Estate where the Phase 1 will stop.

Chief Alade also called for the rehabilitation of the Olubeshe road.
He equally called on the council to equip the Mojoda PHC with necessary quipment and also provide the facility with a gate.
The traditional chief also appealed to the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Chairman in curtailing the excesses of cult groups which he said are disturbing the peace of Ibeshe community as well as some members of the Hausa community whom he said are threatening the peace and order of the community as well.

Speaking earlier, Mr Arowosegbe Jamiu, the Head of the Budget Department in the Council, explained the idea behind the stakeholders’ meeting.
“The essence is to deliberate on the 2023 budget since we cannot do it in isolation of the community. Community inputs are germane to the budget”, he said.
