Months after primary elections of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polarized the party and caused serious disaffections, normalcy seems to be returning as the party’s candidate for Ikorodu Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo (OGA) brokered peace with one of his major contenders, Mr Oluwatoyin Gafaar Bolowotan.
Bolowotan, who was recently reappointed by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, as the Director – General of the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), had challenged the emergence of Ogunleye as the party’s candidate after the controversial primary election.
The resolution of the political crisis was announced in a statement by Comrade Japheth Odesanya, the newly appointed Director of Media & Publicity, OGA Campaign Team, on Thursday.
“Hon. Toyin Gafar Bolowotan and Hon. Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo (OGA) this evening (Thursday), exchanged pleasantries. The much anticipated reconciliation has been brokered”, he said.
“We thank specially, Hon. Babajimi Benson who facilitated the parley.
“We equally appeal to our teeming supporters to spread the spirit of love and desist from unwarranted overzealousness”, he appealed.
He commended Bolowotan for his commitment towards a greater Ikorodu and APC, while also assuring that Ogunleye will give Ikorodu a quality representation.
“Hon. Toyin Gafar remains a steadfast pillar of support for the GREATER IKORODU PROJECT and the All Progressives Congress (APC)”, he said.
“Again, we wish to express our profound gratitude to all stakeholders involved in the build up toward this progressive initiative. The best form of compensation for this height of historic sportsmanship, as displayed by Hon. Bolowotan, is to give the forward-looking people of Ikorodu Constituency 1 a responsive and responsible representation in the Lagos State House of Assembly. This is OGA’s mission”.
