The Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly who is representing the Ikorodu Constituency I, Hon. Sanai Oyeniran Bolanle (SOB) Agunbiade, has assured motorist and other road users in his constituency that have been going through hell due to the collapsed state of a part of the TOS Benson Avenue, Ipakodo, Ikorodu, that credible efforts are ongoing to fix the road.
The fourth term lawmaker gave the assurance in a statement that he personally signed on Saturday and shared on THE IMPACT platform.
There has been serious public outcry since about a month ago when the state government removed the concrete barriers that were used recently to demarcate the road from the Dangote, Ikorodu Ferry roundabout, a situation which has caused the total collapsed of the road.
Many heavy duty trucks and other vehicles have been stuck in the massive wide holes created on the road.
The former Commissioner for Information in Lagos State and Agbaakin of Ikorodu Kingdom, Sir (Otunba) Ayodele Elesho, on Saturday (yesterday), in a statement, condemned the government on the damage caused on the road and its neglect. The reaction by the revered community leader and former labour leader, generated serious public outcry again with the people calling on the government to ensure that the road is urgently fixed.
Hon. Agunbiade, while assuring residents that efforts are ongoing to fix the road, also pleaded with residents to bear with the government, stating that he has been in constant touch with the Lagos State Transport Management Agency (LASTMA) and other necessary agencies to ensure the repair of the road.
“I have been in constant communication with the GM LASTMA and other relevant agencies since I got information about the case. Kindly be informed that LASTMA officials and a Taem of the LASEMA Response Unit (LRU) have been drafted to the scene to recover the affected trucks and also to attend to the incident around Abbatoir/F1 axis”, he said.
“Credible efforts are ongoing presently as assured by the GM LASTMA who has been giving me regular updates”, the lawmaker assured..
“The hiccups will soon be over. Please, bear with us. Appreciation to those that escalated the incidents for remedial action”.
