The Agbaakin of Ikorodu Kingdom and former Commissioner for Information, Lagos State, Sir (Otunba) Ayodele Elesho, has delivered harsh words on the authority working on the demarcation of the TOS Benson Avenue, for the terrible state of the Dangote/Ferry Terminal into Ipakodo axis of the road.
The revered community leader said that the point has turned into a death trap and blamed the government for its insensitivity in leaving the road in that state with its attendant dangers, for months.
THE IMPACT has, some weeks back, reported the lamentation of motorists and other road users over the axis which has deteriorated due to the ongoing demarcation which were later removed from the Ferry Terminal to the Police Post, leaving the road damaged and impassable.
Consequently to this development, the axis has witnessed several accidents since the road has been in that state.
In a statement signed by Sir Elesho earlier today, the former Commissioner called on the six Council Chairmen in Ikorodu Division to intervene and provide palliative measure on the road which is usually being used by heavy duty trucks.
The statement is reproduced below:
Re: Dangote/Ebute Ferry Road:
The situation of that portion of the road is not only deplorable but terribly disheartening.
The authorities working on the road median should be ASHAMED of turning that point of the road to a near death trap.
The Six LG/LCDA Chairmen in Ikorodu Division should immediately rise to the challenge by putting up a palliative work there, at least to make the road manageable for motorists & pedestrians pending when full scale reconstruction will be effected.
The Ogolonto-Ipakodo road is a gateway to all parts of lkorodu Division, hence the need for the intervention of our LG/LCDA elected leaders.
The Lagos State Government should note that, with the situation of that short portion of the road, its huge investment on the total reconstruction of Ogolonto-Ipakodo road is not giving the people the deserved joy & pleasure.
@Agba Akin Elesho, KJW.
