UPDATED: Igbogbo Day 2022: Sports Committee Calls For Entries For Table Tennis, Basketball, Scrabble, Other Games

The Sports Committee of the 2022 Igbogbo Day Planning Committee has called on the general public to enter for the games of their interests as part of efforts to stage a memorable annual community day festival.

In a statement released on Monday by the Chairman of the Sports Committee, Mr Tolu Faniyi, he stated that the forms are available for interested individuals.

The games are divided into two categories: Secondary School and Open category.

While forms for students of secondary schools are free, the open category attracts different amounts of money for interested members of the public to be part of the games.

Games categories and prices are as follows:

  1. BASKETBALL (OPEN CATEGORY – #5,000

BASKETBALL (SECONDARY SCHOOL CATEGORY) – FREE

  1. SCRABBLE (OPEN CATEGORY) – #3,000

SCRABBLE (SECONDARY SCHOOL CATEGORY) – FREE

  1. BOXING (OPEN CATEGORY) – FREE
  2. TABLE TENNIS (OPEN CATEGORY) – #3,000
  3. ATHLETICS – (SECONDARY SCHOOL) – FREE
  4. MARATHON – (OPEN CATEGORY – #1,000)

SECONDARY SCHOOL CATEGORY – FREE

  1. AYO OLOPON (OPEN CATEGORY) – #2,000
  2. DRAUGHT (OPEN CATEGORY)- #2,00
  3. VIDEO GAME (OPEN CATEGORY) – #2,000
  4. SNOOKER (OPEN CATEGORY) – #5,000

Mr Tolu Faniyi, Chairman of the Igbogbo Day Sports Committee assured sports fans and entire residents of great moments during the games, adding that the platforms provided young talents to showcase what that they are made of.

“Our expectations from the games is to achieve youth engagement, sports development, talent discovery and development”, he said.

“Participants and the general public should look forward to exciting games that are full of young and raw talents on display.

“It is an avenue and opportunity for young talents to display and showcase their GOD given talents and skills.
