The construction of the Paul Palmer/Shodeinde Road that links the Oba Molaja to Igbe Road is nearing completion as covering of its surface began at the weekend.
The road also connects Ganiu Alade, Kolapo Ogunyemi, Adabonyan and Community Streets among others.
The Lateef Shodeinde Street section of the project has been covered with asphalt when our reporter visited the road on Monday, October 10, 2022.
Construction machines laying the asphalt were seen parked at the junction of the Lateef Shodeinde and Paul Palmer Streets.
Contract for construction of the 330metre Paul Palmer (before it was extended to cover Shodeinde Street that links Igbe Road) was first awarded to the Fountain Dauglade Limited by the Federal Ministry of Works & Housing, Headquarters, Mabushi, Abuja, in 2019.
It was abandoned by the contractor for about three years and during the period, the contractor, one Mr Fashola, also died.
The project was re-awarded to another contractor around June this year through the efforts of Rep. Benson and was extended to cover Shodeinde Street.
THE IMPACT gathered that the Ife-Oluwa and Igbehin Adun Community Development Associations (CDAs), the two CDAs covered by the road project, are planning befitting commissioning of the road and appreciation for Rep. Benson.
After the facilitation of the construction of the Paul Palmer in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Rep. Benson had went on to also facilitate the construction and rehabilitation of about 30 other roads in Ikorodu Local Government, Ikorodu North LCDA, Ikorodu West LCDA, Ijede LCDA and Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA. All these roads have since been completed and opened for use.
About three weeks ago, the lawmaker also flagged – off the reconstruction of the 1.5kilometre Ajose/Oke – Oko/Ibeshe Road in Owode – Ibeshe area of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria.
