The highest award of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ikorodu, the Teacher’s Pride Award, has been conferred on the Chairman, Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Mr Akeem Rotimi Erogbogbo.
The award was conferred at the first – ever NUT banquet/dinner night held at the HOMAT Multipurpose Hall, Igbe junction, Igbogbo, Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, on Friday, September 30, 2022.
Incidentally, Mr Erogbogbo was the Chairman of the occasion organized in commemoration of the 2022 World Teachers Day, with His Royal Majesties, Alaiyeluwa Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo and Oba Ajibade Bakare Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota, among other dignitaries in attendance.
The awardee attended the ceremony with his wife, Mrs Tosan Erogbogbo.
Speaking with THE IMPACT, the awardee thanked the leadership and entire NUT members for the honour while also assuring that his administration will continue to support the development of the education system.
He also congratulated the entire teachers in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria and the world at large on the occasion of the 2022 World Teachers Day.
Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, who pride so much in education has made the development of the sector a priority of his administration as the IKODASS Chairman with laudable programmes been initiated.
As part of his plans to develop education system in Ikorodu Division, IKODASS, in 2021, organised an educational summit with major stakeholders in attendance. Sequel to the summit, the IKODASS team met with the Commissioner for Education in the state to present the communiqué to her for implementation.
As a follow – up initiative, and as part of the resolutions from the summit, IKODASS, again earlier this year, organized the first – ever Teachers’ Conference in Ikorodu Division..
Some of the educational programmes successfully executed by Erogbogbo led IKODASS are Food Contest among schools in Ikorodu, Quiz and Debate in Ijebu and Sporting Competitions – Chess, Scrabble and Table Tennis competitions for students among others.
Also, winners as well as first and second runners – up in the Food Competition at the 2021 lkorodu-Oga Day, and their teachers, were earlier this year taken on the tour of Abeokuta to visit the Olumo Rock, Adire market and President Olusegun Obasanjo Library in fulfillment of the IKODASS pledge to further compensate them for their feat.
