Residents of Igbogbo in Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, have currently being treated to good and artistic football displays by the teams participating in this year’s Adeboruwa Cup.
The tournament is usually staged in commemoration of the annual Igbogbo Day and in honour of the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo.
Teams resumed hostilities last Friday, September 16th, when Ayegabmi FC, Igbogbo, the defending champions, hosted Ire Akari FC, also of Igbogbo at United African Methodist Church Primary School (Eleja), along Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, Igbogbo.
The highly impressive and entertaining match ended in a draw with both teams scoring two goals each.
Adisa Daniel, scored the first goal for the defending champions to win Mr Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun’s prize for First Goal of the Tournament, while Legba Taramani made it two later on..
The two goals by the away team were scored by Adedoyin Timileyin and Aiyegbami Segun respectively.
The opening match, which was attended by chieftains of the Igbogbo Day Planning Committee and other eminent guests, witnessed displays from both teams.

In the second match played on the opening day, Oreyo FC defeated ltun – Nla FC by 3 goals to nothing with 2 goals from Nwanko IK and the third by Iremide Ayomide.
The first match on the day two of the tournament, Saturday, September 17, 2022, ended in 5-0 as Oliwo Amoju FC thrashed Adeyanlu FC.
Agbo Pius (No 14) opened the scoring for Oliwo Amoju in the 1st minute of the game, while Kolawole Oluwafemi (No. 9) increased the tally in the 25th and also went on to score two more goals in the 42nd and 70th minutes, with Oluwakemi Orisan (No. 19) of Adeyanju FC scoring an own goal in the 58th minute.
Oliwo Amoju striker, Kolawole Oluwafemi emerged the first player to score a hat-trick and the first to win N10, 000 for achieving the feat courtesy Alhaji Olubode.
Agbele FC beat Aina Olowu FC 2 – 0 in the second match on Saturday, with Akinola Olashile scoring a brace in the 54th and 73rd minutes of the match.
On Sunday, September 18, 2022, Stadium Road, the team that emerged first runner – up in the 2021 edition, lost 0 – 1 to Lajo FC, with Abideen Abidemi (No. 66), scoring the only goal in the 59th minute for Lajo FC.

The home team in the second match, Selewu FC also lost 1 – 3 to Bashorun FC.
Sulaimon Kehinde scored for Selewu FC in the 13th minute of the game, while Aro Mustapha (No. 8) equalized for Bashorun FC, a minute later and Amokunmosa Oluwafemi (No. 9) added a brace in the 36th and 68th minutes respectively.
