President Muhammadu Buhari has conferred a National Award on Mr Adeseye Ogunlewe (Jnr.), a Nigerian track and field sprinter.
The honouree who is the son of the former Minister of Works, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, was conferred with the honour on Thursday, September 15, 2022.
His father posted the certificate of the award on THE IMPACT platform late Saturday which has been generating congratulatory messages.
According to the Instrument of conferment of National Honour, the award was conferred in recognition of Ogunlewe’s outstanding virtues and in appreciation of his services to the country.
“In exercise of the powers vested in me under section 1 (4) of the National Honours Act, I, MUHAMMADU BUHARI, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in recognition of your outstanding virtues and in appreciation of your services to our country, Nigeria, HEREBY award to you to have, and enjoy title, dignity and all the privileges of Federal Republic Medal 2nd Class”, the award stated.
Adeseye Ogunlewe who is from a royal family of Igbogbo, was part of the contingent that represented Nigeria at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
