-Friend supports with an ambulance, medical facilities
The Primary Healthcare sector in Ikorodu received a massive boost on Friday, August 26, 2022, as a popular Ikorodu – Born socialite and successful business woman, Alhaja (Chief) Shukurat Modupeola Abimbola Sanni, popularly called ‘Shine Shine’, donated a fully equipped ultra – modern health care building at the Ita – Elewa Primary Health Centre, Ikorodu.
The medical facility was commissioned by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu and Ayangbure of Ikorodu, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Shotobi.
Also commissioned was a brand new ambulance and other medical materials donated by friends of Alhaja Sanni who holds the honourary chieftaincy title of Gbogeniyi of Ikorodu Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Governor Sanwo – Olu, who was represented by the Special Adviser on Local Government & Community Affairs, Mr Robert Bolaji, congratulated the donor on her birthday anniversary and equally commended her gesture.
He said that the donated facility will aid the government’s efforts in enhancing quality health service delivery at the grassroots.
“I am delighted to be here this morning at the commissioning of a block of 12 rooms and an ambulance bus donated to the Ita – Elewa Primary Healthcare Centre by one of our illustrious and industrious daughters in ikorodu, Alhaja Shakurat Moduopeola Sanni, aka ‘Shine Shine’, to mark her birthday celebration”, he said.

“We are indeed very happy to have you as one of our donor families and well – meaning Lagosians advancing the medical sector in Lagos State, having realised that the government alone cannot provide the social amenities for the citizenry. It’s is, therefore, commendable that you chose to toe a worthy path of saving lives through philanthropic act.
“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, for one, this maternity centre will significantly increase the capacity of our public health care system in the community to respond to emergency and efficient medical services to our people, particularly pregnant mothers and children who are the most vulnerable at the grassroots”, the Governor added.
“Equally, the provision of ambulance will go a long way in enchancing health care delivery at the grassroots by facilitating the required services from the primary health care. This will in turn have positive impacts in reducing the rate of maternal and infant mortality.

“If you agree with me that this initiative is a practical demonstration of how the levels of government from the state government to the local government interrelate with non – governmental organizations and private individuals to aid governor in the provisions of health care delivery and other infrastructure in our there state”, he said.
The representative of the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi and the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Ibrahim Mustapha, in her speech, said that the facility donated will provide numerous health services to residents of Ikorodu.
“I want to commend the celebrant of today for this laudable initiative, the realization of which shall further enhance access to wide varieties of primary health care services ranging from maternal and child care services, preventive care and screening, care for chromic conditions such as asthma, hypertension and diabetes and provision of quality and affordable medicines and consumable”, the Commissioner said.
Donated ambulance
The commissioner, who said that the present administration has done very well in upgrading the Ita – Elewa health facility and made quality health care available for residents especially mother and child, added that the gesture of Alhaja Sanni wwould assist in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SGD).
“Today’s commissioning of an equipped ultra – modern health centre by the celebrant is indeed worthy of emulation as it shall assist in improving patient flow and provide services to the good people of Ita – Elewa and Ikorodu in general”, he said
“In giving back to the community, Alhaja Shukurat Modupoe Sanni has contributed in providing an enabling environment to achieve one of the Sustainable Development Goals which is ensuring good and promotion of well – being for all at all ages. She has also donated a brand new ambulance for the use of the health facility. On this note, I wish to heartily congratulate her on the occasion of her diamond jubilee celebration and appreciate her kind gesture to the citizen of Lagos State”, he added.

In his royal remarks, Oba Shotobi thanked the celebrant and her friends for their gestures and contributionn to the development of his kingdom.
Representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson and Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina also commended the gesture of the celebrant and called on other privileged individuals to emulate her.
The donor, Alhaja (Chief) Shukirat Sanni, said that the facility donated was her way of thanking God for the preservation of her life;
The business woman added that she was encouraged by her last child in building the health facility.
“Today is a day of thanksgiving to God for preserving my life. A child of yesterday is now 60 years old today, I pray for good health and the ability to do more in establishing Mosques, Schools and other laudable projects as everlasting impacts”, she said.
“I named the centre as Ajoke House which is my mother’s name. I actually delivered all my children at Ita – Elewa Primary Health Care Centre. It was my last born, Omoshola that actually initiated the idea that I should build an hospital here.
“We have to support the government because the government alone cannot do it all”, she added.
Alhaja Abiola Abeni Shobowale, owner of Abiola Abebi fabrics who supported her friend with the ambulance donation, charged that the facility and ambulance should be put to good use.
“I am supporting Shine Shine because she yis a good person whom we are learning from. She is very accommodating and have good intention.
“I charge those that will be making use of the ambulance to ensure that it’s properly handled so as to achieve the objective it was donated for and also encourage more people to donate”.
During the commissioning, the celebrant was presented with a giant frame by the GenerationNext, a social and developmental organization which the celebrant and donor is its grand matron.
Mr Lateef Sholanke, who led other members of the group, commended Alhaja Sanni for her humanitarian gesture to the community.
He added that members of the GenetrationNext are not surprise with her philanthropic gesture because of her antecedents.
