A total of 36 deep freezers were also presented to APC women leaders in the constituency as the lawmaker’s gift to them for their support.
Mayor Muhydeen Sanwoola, the Director General, iCare Foundation, the operational arm of Rep. Benson, speaking, said that the empowerment is an annual business support for traders.
He also said that the Tuition Assistance Scheme was designed to assist parents who have been requesting for assistance for their children and wards in higher institutions.
“We are empowering woman today and also the youths that just gained admission into the higher institutions. We are providing them with avenue to get means of paying for their school fees”, Mayor Sanwoola said.
“What we are doing today is to provide information on how they are going to apply for it. A major requirement for the tuition assistance will be their admission letter into the institution they are being admitted into.
“Why we are introducing the Tuition Assistance is because we do get many requests from parents. So, we decided to introduce the scheme where those in need could apply instead of allowing them to come one after the other”, he stated while explaining the reason behind the introduction of the scheme.
“This is strictly for students in public tertiary institutions with admission letters and does not include those in private institutions”, the iCare DG clarified.
“For the market women, we have been supporting them on annual basis across the six local councils and today, we are disbursing for this year”, he said.
“As usual, this is not a loan that they are going to refund. It is a grant to help market men and women. Each of them will be getting N50, 000.
“We are also going to give out deep freezers to Iya – Olojas in the six councils and others”, he added.
In his brief remarks, Rep. Babajimi Benson thanked his Constituents, especially the market men and women whom he said that their supports have been massive in the last six years.
“I thank you all for your support and prayers in the last seven years. You have supported and guided us during elections and I pray that God will guide and answer your prayers too”, he said.
“On our own part, we have not forgotten you too because we are aware that things are quite tough these days and that is why we are bringing succor to you.
“Today, we are giving market men and women grant to assist their businesses and we are also introducing educational support for students to also assist parents because of the hard economy. This scheme will be for those that are just being admitted into higher institutions to pay school fees”, Rep. Benson said.
He also highlighted some of his projects across the six councils in the Ikorodu Federal Constituency which were confirmed by constituents in attendance by chorusing, ‘‘We are seeing your works”

The Chairman of the Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, who spoke on behalf of other council chairmen in Ikorodu division, said that the lawmaker has worked beyond expectations.
