Solar Power Gadgets:More Commendations Trail Rep. Jimi Benson’s Gesture As Homes Are Lightened Up

The distribution and installation of the facilitated solar powered gadgets by the Representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, across the six Local Government (LG) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in his constituency, has continued to generate commendations from beneficiaries and residents alike.

The installation of over 2000 solar powered gadget comprising of bulbs, fan, radio and adaptable charging ports, started in the first week of August 2022.

The installation, which targeted vulnerable and senior citizens residents, especially in the rural parts of the federal constituency, has received applauds since its commencement.

The laudable exercise, which is still ongoing, has covered Ijede in Ijede LCDA, Offin in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Isashi in Ikorodu West LCDA, Racaba Market, Ibeshe in Igbogbi/Bayeku LCDA, Molatori, Owode in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Oke Agbo, Oko Ito and Oke Lisa communities in Imota LCDA among others.


The technical team handling the installation is led by Engr. Shobo Segun Mutiu.

Meanwhile, commendations have continued to pour in for the youthful and performing federal lawmaker from everywhere, including THE IMPACT Chat platform, The Peoples Forum and other leading WhatsApp platforms where participants were equally nominated as beneficiaries of the solar powered gadgets.

Mr Hassan Temidayo, the General Secretary, Alumni Association, Lagos State Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), formerly Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) and prominent member of the two platforms who nominated a beneficiary, wrote:

“Thank you @Rep JB for delivering dividends of democracy to members of your constituency.

“My nominee (Mrs. Serah Akanbi) received the solar light from agents of Honourable ‘Jimi Benson on 8th of August, 2022.

“May Almighty God continue to crown your effort with success”.

Comrade Semiu Akinlawon, former Chairman, Non – Academic Staff Union, LASPOTECH, and a member of THE IMPACT platform, also commending Rep. Benson, said:

“Imagine this fine Gentleman called Jimi Benson – the Bibire of Ikorodu becomes the Governor of Lagos State, IRORUN DEEEEE!”, he said.

Also speaking on THE IMPACT platform, an Assistant Editor, The Nation, Mr Dare Odufowokan, also commenting the lawmaker, said that the federal lawmaker has set a standard in representation:

“JB is doing well. He has lived up to the billings of his office. He has constantly shown what representation should be”, he said.

“He set the standard around here and his moves are greatly forcing other elected office holders to either shape in or shape out.

“Kudos and congratulations”, he added.

Ogbeni Adewunmi Amusa, one of APC youth leaders who also nominated a beneficiary, said:

“Once again, I pray that God continue to bless Hon. Babajimi Bendon. My nominee, Mr Sikiru Enijaoba from Agura received his solar powered bulbs, fan and radio today”.

Another chieftain of TPF, Mr Gbenga Odegbile, said:

“The above (showing pictures of the installed components on the platform), was received from my nominee, Mr. A. Adekoye. Many thanks Rep. Jimi Benson for this kind gesture”, he said.


“I, Mr. A. Adekoye of 3, Babalola Omolaja Street, Oreyo, hereby, express my profound gratitude to Rep. Jimi Benson for the gift of the Solar Household light given to me. I also wish to thank members of the People’s Forum for the selection. Thank you so much and God bless. Mr. A. Adekoye”.

Another TPF member, Atunrashe wrote:

“Good evening everyone! No one has ever done what Hon Babajimi Benson is doing in the history of Ikorodu politics, since inception”, he said.

“May Almighty God continue to strengthen him, protect him and uplift him higher to the post of Lagos State governor. Amin.

“Kudos to HON BABAJIMI BENSON”..

Also commending Rep. Benson on TPF on behalf of the platform, another chieftain, Mr Muyiwa Ogunlana, wrote:

“A very sincere appreciation to our own Honourable Jimi Benson for the donation of Solar Energy Systems to the TPF members”, he said.

“I am happy to announce that my nominee, Mrs Yahya Usman (Iya Ahmed) of 45, Adesina Balogun street, Igbogbo, is a beneficiary.

“Gratitude to the people’s honorable, Hon Wasiu Olowu, Alhaji Wale Gbadamosi for their effective direction of the platform which made the platform to be found worthy of the opportunity. Also, greater appreciation to all members of the platform for making it active and relevant”, he said.


Meanwhile, The Chairman, The Peoples Forum, Mr Gbadamosi Adewale, speaking in an official statement on behalf of the platform, thanked Rep. Benson for extending the gesture to the platform.

While he said that the five allotted solar powered gadgets were shared to nominees in five different parts of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA for equitable spread, he appealed for additional five slots.

“We were forced to do the allocation to capture diverse locations within our domain, one for lgbe road area, one for Oreyo axis, one for Bayeku, one for Agunfoye area and one for Selewu to ensure equitable spread”, he said.

“However, the platform is making an attempt to get five additional slots for the solar energy lights from JB so that we can take care of more requests from members of the platform.

“I am appealing for the understanding of our teeming members on the platform, as we promise to continue to serve you better, going forward”.
