Violent clashes between members of the dreaded and outlawed Eiye and Axe Confraternities seems unabated in Bayeku Town in Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, as a member of the Eiye cult group has been reported dead in a renewed clash late Sunday night which has put the whole community in a great fear.
The clash happened around 9pm.
THE IMPACT gathered that soldiers immediately took over strategic places in the town to foretall retaliation.
It was gathered that the murdered suspected cultist was a hair stylist.
An eye witness, who spoke who spoke with THE IMPACT over the incident, said that the victim’s leg was cut off and taken away by his assailants.
“Unity is my area, and l can confirm to you that one Eiye confraternity member has been lynched to death by members of a rival group, Aiye which dominated the area”, he said
“I got wind of the news when l saw soldiers in my domain. The attack took place last night and the deceased’s leg was cut off and carted away by the cultists”.
As at 8am this morning, we gathered that the remains of the cult suspect was still at Unity bus stop in Bayeku.
Commandant of the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Joint Local Task Force, Mr Dare lgbasan, a.k.a Agali, confirmed the incident to our reporter while on patrol earlier today with the Divisional Police Officer, Ikorodu Divisional Police Headquarters, Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu, Mr Baligun and the Odofin of Igbogbo Kingdom, High Chief Tajudeen Duduyemi Onasanya.
He said that the local security are working with the police and other security agencies to ensure that peace reign in Igbogbo and environs during the Oro festival and beyond.
The team led by the Odofin of Igbogbo with the DPO was seen intervening in a dispute between two groups at the Club 24 and they were able mediate successfully.
