Over 2000 residents would benefit from the solar power systems being distributed by the Representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep Babajimi Adegoke Benson.
The solar light would be benefitted by old and senior citizens in Ikorodu who cannot afford to pay for electricity, as the gesture would enable them to have access to alternative power sources.
Beneficiaries of the solar package were sourced from political, religious and traditional groups among others, while some were picked through notable social media platforms.
The exercise, according to iCare foundation, the operational team of Rep. Benson who is the Chairman, House Committee on Defense, is in line with the mission of the lawmaker to light up Ikorodu.
Mr Shobo Segun Mutiu, an aide to the lawmaker, speaking with THE IMPACT, said that over 2000 residents would benefit from the solar power system, adding that the installations are already being handled by the iCare team.
He said that the solar package comprises bulbs, fan, radio and adaptable charging ports.

“Over 2000 vulnerable residents will benefit from the ongoing installation across the six councils in the federal constituency. They are strictly meant for senior citizens who are in rural areas and unable to afford alternative power sources’ ‘, he said.
“We are also going to be considering shop owners that usually open till late night to assist them whenever there is no light as an alternative.
“The Home Solar-powered system comprises four (4) led bulbs, 16″ standing fan, transistor radio, torch and adaptable charging ports for phones”.

The distribution/installation exercise which is ongoing has reached Ijede in Ijede LCDA and Offin in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
Some of the beneficiaries of the packages Madam Wosilat Adegbola, Mr Nurudeen Abdu, Mr Taofeek Balogun, Mr Segun Olanrewaju, Mrs Hannah Peter, Madam Mudiri Lateef (deaf and dump), Madam KomasaIyanoje (Iya Iyale) were full of commendations and prayers for Rep. Benson and team for the gesture.
Iyalaja Eleweomo, a herb dealer and Mrs Regina, a chemist are some of show owners that benefited from the solar packages in Offin.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker has extended the gesture to members of THE IMPACT WhatsApp platform as five members would benefitted. The gesture has since attracted commendations.
Oke OlaOluwa Godwin, an economist and public analyst, speaking on the gesture, said:

A political operative, Mr Oladele Ogunfodunrin, also speaking, said:

Mr Hassan Ekundayo, a senior lecturer and public analyst, wished the lawmaker greater heights.

Canada – based Alhaji Ibrahim Onibudo, who is an active commentator on the platform, also commended Rep. Benson.
